My friends bought a used Apple Notebook, and when they unplugged it without shutting down, now it blue-pages and won't work. Can I help them? I don
t have this hangup with my Mini, and Firefox.

Sounds like the battery was dead when they pulled the plug?

Anyway, try starting it up (plugged in) using Safe Boot - instructions here - and then shut down normally once it gets done. This could solve the problem.

And they really need to get a new battery if this is what happened :).
