Hi guys, so I need some help. A couple of months ago I got a Macbook for my mother based on the advise I got here, and it has been absolutely great!
So my own Sony laptop died the other day so I am borrowing the Macbook for a week or two. I have noticed one HUGE issue.
Every time I watch a movie or even do something simple like spool printing etc... The laptop get's so hot it is impossible to touch the back side of it or even near the screen. Seriously guys, it gets so hot that if you leave your finger there you will burn it!
The laptop is in practically new condition. Any idea as to why this is happening? I have not heard of other people with this problem. So is it this laptop? Should I take it in to apple while it is still under warranty? I would appreciate some help. Here are the specs.
Model Name: MacBook
Model Identifier: MacBook2,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.16 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 4 MB
Memory: 2 GB
*edit* Oh and of course the fans get very noisy/loud when this happens.

Check the vents and make sure there isn't plastic covering them. Apple shipped some a while back with that problem.
-
is that from those defective 8600GT Graphics cards?
-
Considering a Macbook doean't have one. No.
-
No that was the pro. He has the macbook which has a integrated video.
-
Hm, the MacBook does get hot and loud (although at times its just the optical drive making the noise), but its hard to compare to your statements, as people have different considerations of what is burning and such. There is no harm in bringing it to an Apple Store for a checkup, there is no charge and the worst they can do is say there is no problem.
-
thanks guys. No there are no plastic vents covering anything...
And when I do say burn I mean that you cant leave your hand there for more than 10 secs because it HURTS.
This is happening right now when the only thing I am doing is printing. -
I would just go ahead and schedule an appointment with a genius and let them take a look at it.
