i just got a sandy bridge MBP 13 for $999 at microcenter this morning. That $200 off the original $1199.. not even the education discount can get you that deal, only $100 off.

If ur thinking about getting a MBP 13, this is the time while supply last. I just wanna spread the SAVING to all.

yea I got the email last night from microcenter, the took off the $100 of the high-end 13". Where did you pick yours up at because I know the microcenter in NJ only charges 3.5% sales tax also. So you definitely cant beat there prices. I am thinking of selling my 2010 13" but I am not sure its really worth the upgrade.

Not bad at all. btw, the 13 inch uses the older i5, only the 15 and 17 use Sandy Bridge.

Not correct, awaizy - the 2011 MBP 13" also uses the Sandy Bridge i5, the 2410M.

If you're going to be doing a lot of work with audio/video, the updated SB processor might be better.

Photoshop should run better (I think OSX version has CUDA support) on your model, and gaming should be better on your model as well.

Do you think its possible to haggle with microcenter on the 2010 dual core macs because right now they are the same price as the i5's and the people running the counter were commmetning on how they had no idea how they were gonna get rid of them (i prefer 2010 models because of the better gpu).

When I was looking at the Alienware M11x, I stopped by a local MicroCenter. At the time, the R1 was selling for $699 at Dell and $899 at MC. I made an off-hand comment about that, and the salesman said something along the lines of, "We could give you a bit of a break on the price but not that much."

Bottom line is that it wouldn't hurt to ask. Make a reasonable offer, and be polite about it. I wouldn't expect too much off since they're probably operating on a razor-thin margin on the hardware. You might get a better deal if you take an AppleCare plan alongside it. Get a little money off the hardware and ask for a big discount on the warranty.
