Sometimes the brightness will go up or down by itself, I don't want to keep adjusting it manually, how do I turn this off? Because when I am using it on batteries, sometimes it goes all the way up and it kills the battery life, I want to always keep the brightness medium.
Also I got a folder full of picture files and I want to just be able to click the next button so I can see the next picture but when I do that nothing happens, I don't want to click on every pic individually. Thanks

Well in System Settings there should be an option for Display settings. From there, you must have an option to turn the "Ambient Light Sensor" off which is the sensor that adjusts the light for you. Im not sure if thats exactly how you do it but I'm sure thats where it'll be located

The brightness going up and down is because your Mac has a light sensor built in. To disable it go System Preferences > Displays > and uncheck the "Automatically adjust brightness as ambient light changes" box.
If you have a folder full with pictures you can:
- just select all of them and open them with Preview (by double clicking) and you'll have a nice bar on the right, you can navigate with the arrows.
- just click the "Coverflow" button in your finder window, and scroll through the files with the left and right arrow keys.
- hit the Space key, and Quick Look will pop out, again navigate with the arrows...
