Had to drop by even....

Hello to all fellow Mac users. My posts has been dealing with window-based software and a brand new(tough not seen in the flesh) Dell Inspiron700m. My primary computers are (and only computers -no desktops ever) Powerbooks 17": 1.33GHz(1st Gen) and 1.5GHz(newest). My very first computer was a Pismo2000Firewire Pwrbook. Between the 1.5GHz were various 1GHz 17" books that I have sold or traded for the latest releases.

A couple of questions: Converts to Apple - do you miss the window's world? To Apple to Window converts or returnees: Why did you change - business applications?

My reason for going with Dell (I also owed IBM's T42P and x40) was due to facing the business world - no one I met had heard of Virtual PC nor took Macs seriously - they put it in the Playstation category. I also wanted exposure to the window world and experience it firsthand.
Anyway, Jobs can always depend on a solid 3% of the computer world - I already plan to purchase the next gen of Pwrbooks -sight unseen!

Ok since you have owned a T42p and a 17" powerbook, I am debating between one of the two. If you had to buy one again which one would go with and why? Thanks.

Sorry for the delay. I do not check back due to no replies or comments. Anyway, again, I am no expert. I depend on the kindness of others.

The T42p (ACTUALLY I had two - top of the line because I DID NOT have to pay personally for them and I always took the higher ends - my boss gave them to me anyway) was really robust and the display was better than the G4 17" - my personal taste/opinion. The flexview is really easy on the eyes. I did not use the IBMs for editing - that is what the Apple's role was. But when using and learning window-based apps, spreadsheets and other Excel based, number crunching, and tax apps did not get tiring on these machines. I traded these in for another ApplePwrbook 17" and Dell700m (and pocketed the change) because I needed a "slimmer" package of both windows and OS10.
BUT your question is if I only could have one(T42p or Apple)...It would be the T42p again. I cannot deny the fact that this is a window's dominated world. I certainly can get options to configure an IBM to do video editing onthe road and have a good office option as well. Sorry to all Apple fans, but like the Pwrbooks I have owned, no IBM gave me problems whenever I had the chance to use them. But again, since I have both I cannot complain about anything!
Sorry if this does not answer your question. IBM got nothing to fear when competing with other vendors.

Sorry. To make my last post clearer. I have no IBMs now. The last few comments of "having both.." is directed at my Dell700 and Apple - one being windows and other OS10.

This Dell is not a video editor nor gamer - I do not like gaming much anyway. These are tools, not toys.
