Hey all,
I just got my new 15" 2.4ghz MBP last monday at the Apple store. I'm a switcher from PC. OS X has proven to be pretty simple to learn, and I'm really adjusting well to Macs![]()
I did, however, have a problem with my machineAbout 3 days into use of it, I noticed my MBP would randomly just shut off. At first, I thought this maybe was some kind of anomaly and that it wouldn't happen again. But, it did happen again...I would just be internet browsing or doing some word processing and it would just lose power and shut off very quickly. This happened to me both while it was plugged in and while it was on battery.
I called tech support on sunday morning to get some insight into the issue. After troubleshooting for a few minutes, the tech guys recommended that I take it back to the Apple store for a replacement MBP.
Now I'm on my new (2nd) MBP and so far so good.I must say, while this early problem was a bit frustrating (especially b/c I was somewhat apprehensive about switching to begin with), the tech support did a good job of handling the issue. First off, I could actually understand the tech guy lol
and then he contacted the manager of my Apple store to hold a MBP for me and let her know i'd be in to exchange it. It was all a pretty smooth process replacing it...so, for that i'm glad.
Just wondering though - if anyone else who purchased the new MBP had a problem with random shut offs??? I read up on some similar issues of faulty logic boards in older generation MBPs (and the tech guy was thinking that was the case with mine as well).
Had to exchange new MBP
