Mac froze and I had to shut it down by holding the power button down, anything I should do now to makes sure nothing was damaged?

Well not physically damaged, I thought some of the software might be damaged; basically I was asking if I have to do something similar to a ScanDisc(I think it's called, it's fortunately been a while
) from Windows.

try disk utility... you can check the disk and repair any errors using this tool.

I think I've done that once...until I found out ctrl+alt+del on a mac is option+command+esc (I think). Shouldn't be a problem I do it on my home pc/laptops all the time.
Had to manually shut down MAC?
