Hi everyone, I just took delivery of my brand new RevB Macbook Air. I got the 1.86/SSD model. It's simply stunning and I couldn't be happier. Just to put any potential buyer's mind to rest, not all Apple's customers receive products that have defects or issues. My Air is as perfect as it possibly can be. There are no dents, no dead or stuck pixels and it sits level on the table, in other words, no wobbling due to a warped case. I also bought the Superdrive and it's perfect as well.
I want to say thanks to PhilFlow for all of your help, it made it easy for me to make the purchase. I would post pics but everyone knows what the Air looks like.![]()

Poor soul :{ You must've spent so much on that. I do not see why when you could get more power in the MacBook with only a pound more and half the cost...

Congrats on the purchase, HLdan!
I think it is no doubt that the MacBook is more cost-effective, but the MBA has its market and I completely respect that. I mean, if I could afford one as a secondary computer to a more powerful notebook or desktop, it would be awesome.

It is an expensive computer however I don't think there's any such thing as spending too much if you are happy with your purchase. -
About half, You can get a white Macbook with a 2.1 GHz C2D, 2GB RAM and a 120 HDD for $1075, the Air at base gives you a 1.6 GHz C2D 2GB RAM and 120GB HDD for $1799. So maybe it's not exactly half with that set up.
But if you opt for the SSD & 1.86 version like HDLan did then you can buy the new unibody MacBook for only $50 over half.
Those prices for the Air aren't including the optional optical drive. I do think it's pretty, but I would never consider purchasing one. I'd get the white Macbook, even a used one (which I've never done), just because I would hate to spend so much and get so little specs for the cost spent. -
I'm glad you're happy with your computer. If I met you in real life we would have an epic debate!

To the OP: Congratulations. At least for now. Give it a few months - something will drop off, bend, overheat or crack. And it won't be fixed the first time around. -
I have used my netbook for 2 months now, I know that it's in a different category than "ultraportable", but they're close in their uses. I Love my Acer Aspire One, but it only cost me $420! I paid a permium to get it when I did, you can get one like mine now for only $350. I do appreciate how light they are and how then can be brought around so easily, but still... I saved $1380 by going with the Aspire One over the Air, and I run Photoshop & Illustrator on it for my graphic Design class, so it can do some programs you wouldn't think it could. It's not terribly slow running them either, just wish I had higher resolution :O

For me, the added function / runtime / comms features / resolution / etc of a typical flagship ultraportable like the Sony TZ/TT are definitely worth getting over a netbook.
Granted, with an Air those technical benefits aren't as apparent and you are paying for the style in a manner of ways - but you know, there are some people, me included, who really have no interest in whipping out the surest sign of a broke student from his bag. The Air is, despite it's many faults, the antithesis of that. -
Congrats on your new lappy! The Air is definitely very very sleek and attractive
I would like to own one too someday
Happy Air Owner!!
