When using my new MBP in a quiet room, I've noticed an intermittent sound. I'm not quite sure how to describe it... It's soft, and sounds a bit like the sound effect used when a hair gets plucked out in a cartoon, only more metalic... I tried to find a pattern to it while holding a stopwatch, but had little success.

Results (heard the click at these times):
    :00
    :15
    2:00
    2:15
    3:10
    ...

My initial thought is that it's not bad, but curiosity has me interested in what the sound may be. Is it a normal HD noise, but the other computers I've been too loud for me to hear? Is it the earliest stage of a HD that will go bad?

    Thought?

I had that happen to a hard drive- like a metallic grating sound when the hard drive head would not align properly. It gave up 2 months later. I'd advise you to back up all your important data.
