I've been looking to buy a mbp ever since the unibody model came out. However, people have been telling me that I should never buy the 1.0 version of the new model - which makes sense because inevitably there will be bugs that will need to be fixed, especially when it comes to hardware.

I'm wondering when the 2.0 revision will come out (if not already?)

    Thanks!

no not yet. You might see a speed bump in May-June for the mbp and August-September for the mb
but there won't be a major revision until next year.

There hasn't really been any serious bugs, just the normal crap you get with every mass produced product made in Chine these days.

only thing i was talking about was the bad screens in some of the macbooks. I have no idea if its a problem that they've already fixed, but i know people were complaining about it for a while.

There are no bad screens in the new macbooks. There are some that are a bit better, but none that are bad. Some people don't like the glossy screen -- that is not a flaw with the machine, just a feature that is not liked by some.

Actually, this has been IMHO a solid version 1 release from Apple. I have the MBP (see sig) and Im impressed so far:

    1. No (Santa Rosa) earlier "First key stoke" problems
    2. Not a hint of any build quality issues (construction is the closest I've seen to flawless) of any recent laptop
    3. Solid keys with no usual key flex
    4. Coolest running MBP yet out of any past builds
    5. Even with the screen glare, I am mesmerized by the gorgeous screen. No bleed, no unevenness, crystal clear.
    6. Even the wireless "Airport" card is working great

In a nutshell ---------- No complaints for a Version 1

I recently got a new unibody mac[my first mac]. I was scared of what I read about the screen, how it's too glossy and stuff.

Let me tell you, the screen is AMAZING. Some movies look like blu-ray on here, it's nuts.

Of course, you have to clean it from time to time, but you have to do that will all computers.

    I highly recommend it.

I was specifically talking about the viewing angles on the screens on some of the macbooks. Wasnt that an issue on launch? or just false hype?

i really hope we'll have a firmware update so that we'll be able to use the 9400m in windows...the 9600m gt tends to get pretty hot

I'm kind of a Rev.A guy. I bought the first iPhone when it came out, no issues what-so-ever. I bought the first Santa Rosa Macbook Pro when it came out, no issues what-so-ever. Even though some people reported bottom half of the screen yellowing out. Mine didn't have any problems. (except for faulty nVidia chip).

And now I bought the Unibody Macbook Pro, two weeks after it came out: no issues what-so-ever. Some people have reported unresponsive clicks (for which there's a firmware update), I never had any problems related to it.

The build quality in the Macbook Pros is just unbelievable.

With the risk of shameless self-promotion, check out my pictures. They show some of the build quality.
