Just lookin' over the spec's on the new iphone and I noticed that the headphones now support volume control.
I didn't see this fact listed before anywhere else or during the keynote... Its about time apple !
The only major downside is that they are not enabling the feature on the 3G iphone.

Thats a feature which I would love. Anyway I can get an iphone in august, but by then would it just be better to wait for the 4G lol.

I'd just jump on it in August, if you can. ;) Technology is always changing, while bigger and better things come out all the time. I'd just get something and be happy with it, because there's sure to be something else coming out that'll have that one feature that you would die for. :p

I'm kinda thinkin the same thing, would love a new one but just wondering if I should wait another year.
At this stage I'm gonna see how long the v3.0 software keeps me satisfied... if it gets me thru to Xmas then I can upgrade my wife orginal iphone when its outta contract.

Meh, not a huge thing for me. Volume control is not hard currently. Just stick my hand in my pocket and press the volume. Changing songs that way though, is another thing.

I bought the new Shuffle (the one that talks to you), and the new Apple In-Ear headphones.

And I tried the headphones on my original iPhone and play/pause and volume controls work. I really don't know why this is news...

    ^^^^
I have the in-ears as well, the play/pause work but the volume doesn't.
Its listed on the apple website as not supported, and all the reviews around the web confirm this. I've tested the headphones with both my original iphone and my 3G and no volume.
Thus the reason I thought this could be of minor interest to those who might like this feature.
