    black Macbook 2.0ghz, 120gb, 1gb ram.
2 questions before I call apple tomorrow:

    1) I asked this before once, but not many people replied. My trackpad is uneven. There's sort of a veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery very slight outgrowth, a bump if you will, on the very top of the trackpad, slightly to the left of the middle. Also, and probably related, if I press the very top-middle part of the trackpad, just before the borders, the trackpad sinks a bit. In other words, I can push it down (just that part) maybe 1-2mm (1/10 inch?). I know the bump is not normal, but is the latter problem normal?

    2) How hot can the macbook get? When the laptop is on my lap running on battery and I'm surfing through wireless or watching a movie, the left side of the bottom can get noticeably hot. I can still work on it, but it gets quiet hot. I think a few more degrees and my lap could start sweating perhaps.

    Thanks

Also, I want to add a question: sometimes (maybe a every other day) the fan on my MB starts working like crazy, and everything gets really slow (REALLY slow). on windows, i used to press cntrl+alt+delete to see which programs and apps are open, my cpu and memory usage, etc. What's the equivalent in os x? I want to see why things are so slow.
Edit: I think it was this stupid firefox...

It is hard to tell if the bump is normal... take the battery out and look at it closely, it may be starting to swell, there is a batch of bad batteries out there. As for the temp, Macbooks do get hot. Open activity monitor (in Applications/Utilities) to see the processes running. Most probably it wasn't firefox per se but some flash page, the flash plugin for OS X is horrible, so blame Adobe on this one.

How long have you had your Macbook? I'm guessing not more than 21 days. Apple may allow for an exchange if you're within the grace period.

Download SMC Fan Control and tell us what your temperatures are. If they're within 40C-60C under normal conditions, then you're fine. My Macbook idles at around 56C normally. However, if I set it on my bed, it can get up to 60-65C.

K on my laps, while airPort is on, wireless connected, running a funny video on arnold in brazil and playing a song in itunes, it moves around 55 degrees Celsius. Right now, with AirPort off and firefox being the only application open and my laptop on the Elevator, it's hovering around 51, although now it seems it's averaging around 49. Acceptable?

K i took my laptop to a place authorized by apple, and they said something in the laptop has to be replaced to fix the trackpad. I think it's something that goes around the laptop, maybe around the keyboard.

Sigh, which means I have to take another trip down to the tech shop... argh!
