Ok so i was going to install xp on my mac. i had previously installed xp on a fat32 partition that i created on my drive. i burned all the necessary disks but this time around i didnt use the boot camp app to do any setup since i thought my box was ready for install. I popped in my xp disk and restarted my comp. When it restarted I let it boot off the disc and the install went smooth. When I restarted my box, all i got was a gray screen and a blinking light where the sleep light thingy is. I tried to use the boot commands to reset the pram and boot into osx but nothing is happening. Is there any way i can get osx back? is there a command to force the cd out so i can put in the install disk and fix the permissions? oh god i hope i didnt kill my box!

is there a way to fix the boot partition or MBR or whatever the mac equivalent is?
Since I didnt specifically tell os x to boot from the xp partition by default i think it might have gotten messed up. Are there any 3rd party apps one can use to fix the drive once I have gotten into the install dvd? I tried to repair he disk and permissions but that didnt work

Did you try to use the option boot (hold option while booting up) to see what boot devices are available? If so, if you want to pop out the cd, while the system is turning on just hold the eject key down, that should force the cd out. You could also try a SMC reset (take out battery and unplug ac adapter and hold down the power button for 5-10 seconds). Also if you have another mac with firewire, you can target boot your mac as a external hard drive, and see if any of your partitions are messed up.

A guess is that you may have installed Boot Camp onto your Mac partition. Hopefully not, but sounds like a possibility.

Holding the trackpad button (mouse button) pressed when turning on the power should eject the cd.

after that you can try booting from the Mac OSX install DVDs.
