ok, I am getting a new bedroom, and I have a crazy setup planned, but idk if it'll work.

What I want to be able to do is:

Insert a dvd into a closed (booted up) macbook, and use front row with the apple remote to play the dvd from my bed. I am thinking about getting one of the apple displays to use it with. I also have an extra set of sony surround speakers (The base station was stolen, so a whole new set was bought) Can I hook those up as well?

That'd ne a fricken sweet setup, and I will post pics if I finish it. If you need more info, I will give it to you as best as I can.

    I still need to buy:

    apple remote
cable to connect macbook to moniter
    monitor
so,ething to get the speakers to work?
external keyboard to wake macbook when closed

You will also need an external keyboard in order to wake up the Mac with the lid shut.

You have a good idea for this setup. I think you may be able to use the Remote app (free from AppStore) on your iPod Touch as a fully functional Apple Remote to control your media, but others should check that, if the Remote app for iPhone and iPod Touch is only for controlling iTunes or also other Apple media stuff.

    Thanks for the tip :)

    EDIT:

    I found this program:

    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/30315

If I DL this, would I still need the keyboard?

    Updated the 1st post

I have the app, it's currently only for itunes music.

Are you sure you want to spend that much money on a display?
