I currently have a Macbook Pro and have been looking a few PC's recently. However, I don't want to leave a Mac!!. I am thinking of selling this as it's depreciating, and buying a new uni body Macbook Pro. How are the issues like over heating in these machines? Mine over heats way too much. Opening up just a few applications like safari, msn, word, itunes it goes up to 60s. My wrists are pretty hot when using this.

Also, when are the uni body's next batch revisions going to be shipping? If anything, I don't want the first versions.

Do you guys think this is worth it? I am selling my Macbook Pro for $1500-1600 which means I am going to have to shell out another $500-600 for the uni body MBP (and tax).

It stays cool, but if you think 60 is over heating then it over heats. But mines usually in the 50's

No one knows when they next revision is.

It's not really up to us to decide how to spend you money. If your want to upgrade then do it, if you don't then don't.

Heat is not an issue. It is way cooler than my old MBP.

I love my 2.4 Unibody MacBook. As previous mentioned, it runs very cool....averaging around 50 (mine is at 47 right now) and the highest I've seen it go is 74 when I'm encoding a DVD.

I sold my MBP Santa-Rosa 2.2 and bought a Unibody MBP 2.53ghz. Obviously, the Unibody is faster than the SR. As for the heat, the Unibody is running slightly cooler compared to my previous MBP. My SR MBP was averaging 48-52 C and the new Unibody runs at ~44C.

Does the difference in speed justify the upgrade??

where are you guys selling your SR MBPs? I'm kinda interested in the new 17 MBP and want to find a way to sell my 15" MBP but I don't want to give it away since it's still in mint condition. Mine has applecare too so that goes with the machine I guess.

for what I use my MBP: not really

however, the new design, trackpad, and keyboard were more than enough to justify getting the Unibody MBP!

I just got offered $900 US for my MBP from "Mac of all Trades" in the US, which I've never dealt with before so I'm not sure if they're reputable or good to deal with. That's about $1100 CAD which I think is a little on the low side but I don't know.

I sold my old MBP for $1100 canadian. It was the previous generation 2.16 ghz, back from 2007. I think you can get more than that.

Just got the unibody 2.4GHz MBP and I think it's beautiful. It's everything a laptop should be sans near-weightlessness and infinite battery life.

I think you're right. I came across this site which gives a value to second hand macs for your area and mine came to $1370 CAD without taking into account applecare or its condition, so yeah $1100 CAD seems to be low.
