I just bought a Macbook 13, it has some cracks in the palm rest and the battery doesn't charge. Its under warranty until July, so I want to get it transfered to me. I wrote up a receipt, so I have the original owners name. How do I transfer the warranty?
The only other thread I found about this: http://forum.notebookreview.com/apple-mac-os-x/458453-registration-warrenty-issues.html

Do you mean transferring AppleCare from the original owner to you? If so, here's the text from my AppleCare agreement WRT transfers:

I called Apple today, I gave them the original owners name and they transfered it into my name.
The rep I spoke to said I didn't need to transfer the ownership to utilize the warranty. -
I just called them up, gave them the serial and my phone number (it was in the registry form) and then they transfered it to my friend when I asked.

AFAIK, The warranty follows the laptop, not the owner.

I had no problems transferring the warranty to myself. I simply called Apple Support and provided them with the necessary information to transfer the warranty to me. There was no complex process for it. I think it was just the SN, my info and the previous owners info.
