I've Googled to no avail. Am I doomed to redownload +100MB files whenever I wish to watch a certain trailer again?
-
When I watch them through safari, on the bottom right there is an arrow pointing down, just select save as source, or something like that. Also if you are using quicktime then just go to file, and then choose save.
i am not sure if this is a feature that is not available to non pro quicktime users. -
No, apparently saving is a feature that on a Mac costs $30, I've found out. I like my Macbook Pro and all, but this is rather... sad.
-
Yeah, its complete BS that apple wont' let you save streamed QT movies.
Or even view them at full screen without getting the pro version. Complete crap. -
It does suck about the saving thing though. A lot of QT movies and music aren't true streams though and are simply files imbedded on the site - you might be able to find the file itself and download it manually. -
stealthsniper96 What Was I Thinkin'?
try this- right click on the file, there might be an option that says download linked file. they prolly have that blocked tho. but it might be worth a shot.
-
I've tried. I've failed.
-
So I never noticed it was a much needed feature addition in the basic version. -
I'd like to install a version of MAC OS onto a partition of my hard Drive, can I do it?
-
I own a ACER laptop.
-
...
Seriously, man.
Make your own thread. -
Saving QuickTime trailers is a Pro-only feature. So get QuickTime Pro like hollownail suggested.
-
Oh forget it. I'll download trailers some other way. Paying $30 for this is ridiculous.

So, let's say I pay the $30 for QTP, is it a good general program for saving youtube videos and the like?
-
Just use KeepVid.com. And maybe read this post. -
You can save Youtube movies for free using a variety of software (Miro for example). There are even websites out there that will do it for you for free without any software download, as Xander's post above illustrates.
QT Pro is really there for single-file conversion and some minor editing (like cutting, etc.). Of course, there are free programs out there that do this even better, if media editting was what you were hoping for.
So in other words, QT Pro really isn't the best use of money unless there's something in it you specifically want. -
Thanks! Apple isn't always clear on just what their applications are good for (or not, as the case may be).
-
And for saving youtube, there are some plugins for firefox that help you with that as well.
Not being able to save in QT is silly, the fullscreen thing was ludicrous, they finally realized that and relented. How many complaints a day do you guys reckon they got?
Of course to activate QtPro you just have to enter a valid serial......
How does one save streaming trailers in Quicktime from Apple?
