Games such as StarCraft and WarCraft absolutely require right clicks to play. Blizzard usually releases a Mac version simultaneously with a PC version of their games.
My question is, how does one play games like those mentioned above where right clicking is essential? I am going to buy a MBP, and I know I can use Bootcamp to do Windows gaming. But since Bliz releases Mac versions, I thought I wouldnt have to boot up XP to play. It's just the issue of the mechanics of the mouse.
So what gives, does anyone have some info that could help me? Thanks in advance.

You buy a mouse with 2 buttons?? Unless you're someone who loves to play games using the trackpad, in which case you can just use two fingers to tap the pad if you want to right click.
-
But as the guy above this post said, get a mouse for gaming. Playing games, especially blizzard's real-time strategy games where timing and micromanaging can be important, with a touchpad isn't quite so effective. -
yup just get a 2 button mouse.

you right click with the right mouse button... how do you normally right click?
even if you have a laptop with no mouse, a left click is tapping the trackpad with one finger, a right click is tapping the trackpad with two.
it works amazingly. why other vendors do not do this is beyond me. most let you at least tap the trackpad for a left click, but you have to hit the right click button for a right click! bagh! apple's solution is better.
i personally use the single button for dragging windows because its awkward to do it with the trackpad.
in all fairness, you DO have to go into the system preferences to fix that. it should be enabled by default. -

i was just saying that no one else allows you to do a right click on the trackpad itself (using two fingers)
its deviously simple and it seems like it should be standard.
what are you saying about buttons and left and right? -
I was referring to some pads with 2 buttons, where a a 2 finger click (pressing both buttons) could emulate a middle click.
Some touchpads also have specialized ways of emulating rightclick or middleclick (depending on where you tap on the pad).
Still, I like the Apple pad best though, especially with the multidirectional scrolling (instead of simply placing the scrolling along one edge of the pad). -
Ok, I don't think my question was as dumb as it might have looked. I just thought that the entire Mac OS does not support a 2 button mouse. I didn't think that the games would support it but outside in the general OS it wouldn't support it.
Edit: And yes I was aware that I could set it up so that two finger clicking would emulate a right click, just as Command clicking would emulate a right click. My question was basically about the Mac OS supporting two button mouse hardware in games such as StarCraft and WarCraft. I dont think it was a dumb question, sorry if it was. -
Well, then I'll answer it here. Yes, Mac OS X does support any mouse that has the right driver (which nowadays there's quite a lot). Yes, the right-click of those mice does equal a right-click in Mac OS X.

its ok i was just messing with you a little bit.
anyway, you can right click within the mac os itself, and actually its a pretty vital function. i dont think you would get around very well without it.
cmd click is not a good system, but the trackpad right click is perfect. also- holding two fingers on the trackpad and clicking the button is a right click.
if you have a mouse, it works just like a normal mouse. -
Do you play starcraft of warcraft with your touchpad? most likely the answer is NO. There you go, because you use a mouse, use a two button one.
I am big fan of starcraft and warcraft -
I see that the context within which I asked my question, and my further clarification thereof, has been lost on most people attempting to answer my question. In fact, most of you seem to be trying to put me down.
Thanks masterchef, only you seem to understand the question properly. I understand that it's obviously impossible to play SC or WC with a trackpad, I've been playing for years.
My question was regarding the Mac OS and applications running within in to support 2 button mouse hardware, because I've never used a Mac before, but I always see people complaining about it having just one button.
Anyway, thanks masterchef.
How does right-click games work on Mac?
