You can go to store and pick it up right then if they have it in stock. Otherwise, you wait for the stock to be replnished next week.

    1) Go to Apple.com and see for yourself. Right now it says 7-10 days for the 15" and within 24 hours for the 17" - that is without any customizations. When you make changes to the configuration the estimates will be updated. Apple's estimates are fairly accurate, if anything your Mac will ship before the estimate :). Also if you take you order several steps further you will see both estimated ship dates and estimated arrival (at your doorstep).

    2) Yes, but you cannot upgrade the Hard Drive in-store. Call the store beforehand to check if what you want is in-stock. You can however choose between Glossy & Matte and upgrade the RAM in-store.

These type of questions would probably be better addressed to Apple representatives. If you don't want to drive to The Apple Store, call or use the Chat Now feature on their website (just go to store.apple.com and Click Chat Now towards the top of the page). Apple has excellent Customer Service :)!

LED screen supply tightness is adding a few days to the order.

Apparently you can't walk into a third party vendor and pick one up.

I ordered a 15.4" MBP (LED Screen, Glossy) and upgraded the hard drive to 160GB 7200RPM.

I ordered on July 7. Today is July 22. The order has not yet shipped. Here is what it says on Apple's website when I check my order status.

    Ships by: Jul 18 - Jul 23
    Delivers by: Jul 20 - Jul 26

So, it should ship today or tomorrow if it sticks with the original estimate. That means it'll have been almost 3 weeks!

I ordered my MBP on the 6th and it was delivered to me on the 18th. It was the stock MBP though, if you upgrade the HD, from what I was told it will take one or two extra days.

No, the new 15.4-inch MacBook Pros have a LED-backlit LCD display. We're talking about the screen itself. LED-backlighting is good because its environmentally friendly, saves battery life and is very bright. Yes, the MacBook Pro still has the light-up keyboard.

Its actually the screen itself. Like where everything is displayed, the "window".

I mean the screen itself :D. The thing you're looking at. The bright "window" where you're reading this. The display of the notebook. Get it yet? ;)

You won't see a difference in a picture. Nothing looks different about the new MacBook Pros. But the screen is brighter, consumes less power.

Hello all, I just made a purchase online for the MBP and my ship date is VERY reasonable compared to the long delays on Dell's laptops. So far, my estimated shipping date is reported at being August 1st to August 6th, with the delivery dates being somewhere in between August 3rd to August 10th. That definitely beats Dell's estimate for their m1330 of September!

I'm a first time Mac buyer, so things will definitely be interesting.
