Just wondering if its worth it ? And how many actually do it.
- What mac do you use ?
- Do you run Windows via bootcamp ?
I do on my Air -

masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
macbook pro. its running xp mainly for gaming.
-
iMac in my sig is running Windows Vista Business 32-bit. Its flawless
-
Running XP SP2, mostly for those odd times at work when there's no OS X support for a hardware device or piece of software.
-
Running XP SP2 for work....all day everyday.....boot in to OS X as soon as i'm off....
-
I haven't tried installing Windows via Boot Camp yet.. but the thought has crossed my mind. I don't really have a NEED for it... I just think it'd be something useful to have for the odd time when the OS X equivalent of a Windows program isn't up to par (i.e. Windows Live Messenger)
-
I have Windows installed, but I have only booted to it about two or three times since January.
-
Funny as it sounds, the ONLY reason I have Vista installed on my Mac is for iTunes. I convert a lot of DVD's to play in iTunes, and for some reason, soon as I upgraded to 10.5.2, the program I was using (Emetrix something or other) wouldnt fully convert the movie. Even Handbrarke isnt working correctly (and I've tried HB on both my iMac and MBP, both with pretty much the same set up). I have a program that I purchased for Windows, and it does a wonderful job with no hang ups as far as converting the movies.

Macbook Pro, Windows XP for engineering and car tuning software.
-
I run XP on VMWare to upload data from my Palm. (The receiving software only works on Windows)
I boot into the program once every 2 months (if that) and it takes less than 30 seconds to complete so I figured I might as well use VMWare for ease of switching back to OS X.
(Bitpimming can also be done via Windows. I've found Bluetooth and Bitpim on the Mac to be unacceptably slow for transferring ringtones) -
mbp leopard.
windows for AC, leopard for battery. -
I used to run XP under bootcamp.
Considering my desktop is faster at gaming, there is little reason for me to ever boot into XP.
so... I took it off -
Macbook Pro from my sig with XP Pro SP2. For gaming and LAN Parties..
-
I have it for the few times a month that I actually use it. The occasional game or application requiring the use of Windows is pretty much all I use it for. Otherwise it's OSx.
-
Nopes, I don't. Can't afford a Windows license
.
-
Got my macbook pro last month. Haven't found the need to install windows on mine yet. Very happy with OSX
-
I got mine for something different so there's no point in running Windows or Linux which I already have running.
-
that and parallels here. When i Game, i boot to XP. WHen i code, i do so from within OSX on Parallels via Bootcamp Partition.
-
10.5.2 Leopard
Vista Home Premium
vmWare Fusion
Boot Camp
I don't mind the reboot to use Vista if I foresee an extended Windows session. Vista runs "ok" under vmWare Fusion, very useable, but of course it runs very well under BootCamp. -
I run XP via Boot Camp. Strictly for gaming. I use OS X for everything else.
-
I used windows because I had to, not because I wanted to. So, even though I have numerous vista licences, I'm trying to keep my MBP windows-free and so far the experience has been nothing short of amazing. For the first time in my life I'm literally spending less time on my computer while getting more done.
As far as gaming, I don't anymore on my computer. Ever since I started playing on a PS3 and a 50" 1080p display I lost my appetite for gaming on a 15" screen. -
XP in VMware Fusion for Dino-lite app. The Mac version of this app can't leave power on for the microscope longer than 0.5 sec and the macversion is: as is.
Unity rox though! -
Macbook Leopard no windows.
A little tinkering with crossover and some mild interest in vmware or parallels.
To me, booting Windows on a Mac is a lot like duct taping a propeller to an F-15.
To put it another way...
If the Tuttles were working on a bike for Microsoft, it would have pedals. -
I don't run Windows 'cause I decided if I was gonna go Mac, I was going all the way. I'm not a gamer, so Mac-only has been fine thus far... But it is nice to have the option...
-
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
i also have vmware set up with my boot camp partition... barely ever use it but sometimes its nice to be able to have windows up for testing a website or something random without rebooting.

Peryn MBP 15" here with Leopard and XP via Boot Camp. I use XP mainly to run engineering/simulation software.
-
A large portion of my HD is reserved for OSX for media content creation apps like Bryce and Cararra, but I do have a third of the drive for Vista for my day job. Both are awesome on my MBP when using with Boot Camp.
-
Hi.
I'm a windows fan .I just switch to mac with a intel mac book 2.4 Peryn.I install boot camp and vista ultimate 64 bit.It run perfectly But 1 thing I really hate is trackpad cannot perform tap=click(with vista) . So does anyone here give me a solution for that problem?
Thanks alot

Vista 64 here runs like a champ. I mainly use Vista for gaming and work when I need the full featured version of Outlook. I use OS X for working on my music or light work when I need alot of battery life. I'd say I spend equal time in both.
-
Its mainly a driver issue Apple never bothered to fix...a mouse solves that issue.
-
I never try with the mouse yet.I'll give it a shot.I don't want to carry a mouse all the time, so hope apple will fix this soon. Thanks for your reply

Lethal Lottery Notebook Betrayer
personally i hate bootcamp. i could see why one would like it. but frankly osx has every program i need. i got really pissed when installing windows via bootcamp i had a bsod error. i vowed never to try it again. and as for gaming, i tried doom3 and the MBP got so hot i could have cooked a hot pocket on it. also it lagged on the lowest settings.
-
I had it running with Boot Camp and also with Fusion up until this morning.
I closed the lid on my MBP while Fusion was running XP in another space, and when I opened it up again XP was stuck.
Multiple attempts to get it start it resulted in nothing but "Loading personal preferences" and locking up in that, could not even send a break via Fusion's Restart menu, so I had to pkill -9 the process.
Now it won't even start..
Why can't I suspend the BootCamp virtual XP installation as if I was running it in a virtual container with Fusion? -
I'm tossing it about. I've had my MBP for about 3 weeks now. I'm the only one in my close knit circle of friends running Mac so it might be beneificial to run XP when they come screaming at me for help. Is it really hard to install under bootcamp? The thought of a BSOD makes me shudder.

Well i deceide to remove Vista from my Air, and restore the partition. I realize that i really dont use Windows now that im on the mac, and also figure why hurt my hard ware running vista. I makes my pc hot and since i got a mac why the heck did i put windows on it lol.
Love mac and leopard -
I work in a Windows dominated environment in IT Support, so a massive chunk of my day has me resolving networking and desktop problems that the front-line IT staff can't deal with. Unlike Windows, my Mac really does tend to 'just work' (barring situations where I'm trying to mess about with stuff in Unix and break something *grin*).
-
I use Boot Camp to boot my Mac into Ubuntu 8.04. However, I find I use Ubuntu more than OS X (it simply has a nicer interface) so I installed rEFIt, and now have Ubuntu boot by default. Shame about the wireless card though.
-
I run windows xp dual boot on my macbook.
-
I have Microsoft Office for the Mac OS already running on my computer,
if install bootcamp and windows xp, would I theoretically have to purchase another copy of Microsoft Office for Windows in order for me to be able to use Microsoft Office while in Windows mode?
and same with Parallels, would I have to purchase to versions of Windows?
thanks -
Pure MacOS X. No Windows on my machine. Why would I do that, anyway?
-
Using XP Professional SP2. A week ago I changed to Vista Business, but meh, got too comfortable with XP I guess. I'm back to it now.
I'm on Windows XP most of the time, mainly because all my games and school stuff only work here.
How many people run (bootcamp) Windows on a Mac
