iPad 2
64 GB
Wi-Fi + 3G
Mint condition (no scratches or dents or anything)
How much could I get for it on Craigslist or eBay or maybe here on NBR?
-
Someone on another forum sold the same model to a co-worker for $450 and he said he probably could have gotten more. My guess between $450-500.

You can buy a new one from Best Buy for $730 (they still have most of the iPad 2 models in stock) so keep that in mind. No matter what condition it is in, the iPad is still a year old and used. I can tell you that most people putting them on Craigslist in my area are getting around $600 for theirs. Others are getting more because they are including accessories, the original box, and other things.
You can always look on eBay and see what the average rate is. Just don't expect anything close to $720 though. However, if you do find a someone fool enough to buy it for $720, you should go for it. I suggest putting it on Craigslist (or whatever) for $675 and see what happens from there. If no one responds, lower the price by $25 and push it back to the top. Keep doing that until it is sold.
Edit: I sold my 64GB wi-fi only iPad 2 for $500 but it included the original box, a preinstalled screen protector ($20), translucent blue plastic back that works with Apple's Smart Cover ($20), and a neoprene sleeve case (came free with plastic back). Maybe I got a good deal, I don't know. -
I had a guy agreed to buy my mint 32GB white wifi for $425, this was a few days after the iPad 3 announcement. In typical Craigslist fashion, the guy was never heard from again after we set a time to meet. I left the listing active but there were zero inquiries.
Fast forward to two days ago. I relished it with a firm $425. Had two emails with phone numbers within two hours, both straight up said they'll buy it. Sold it to the first guy that showed up, an hour later.
My point is, seems higher capacity iPad 2 are holding well, interest seems to have gone UP, based on my experience. -

Oh, I forgot to mention that I also have a polyurethane Smart Cover.

$500, minimum in my opinion.
-
Probably a little over 500....

I got a thrive for half that...

I could get a Kindle Fire for even less. Point?

It's crazy and makes you shake your head but I've seen used 16GB iPad 2's go for close to retail on Ebay. I've also seen new iPad 2's go for more than what you can buy them on the Apple website.

I'll gladly pay tax to have new over used. If I can't buy a used item used for 20-30% off i'll go new.

You can also search eBay by going to search, advanced options, and check completed listings to see what they have sold for.

Seeing higher prices on eBay and other auction-type sites is nothing new. In fact, it is quite common to see obscenely high prices for new product. I saw a 32GB Verizon LTE iPad 3, new and unopened on eBay for $1200 despite Apple shipping them out within a week, Apple Stores having plenty in stock, and even 3rd party stores still having a nice stock (the Best Buy near me gets a steady supply once a week). I don't get it.
I noticed the pricing trend even dating back to 2004. I was looking on eBay for an inexpensive 3G iPod as the 4G model had just come out. However, almost everyone was selling the 3G iPod for the same price (or maybe $20 under) as the 4G iPod (in the various capacities). Instead of trying to help out someone who actually wanted the 3G iPod over the 4G model, they just ended up buying the 4G iPod. Even with taxes, it was only about $40 more than what people on eBay wanted for the previous generation. There are some idiots out there willing to pay those prices. I also think a bunch of it has to do with overseas shipping since electronics can cost an absurd amount in other countries. -

Which Android tablet is $49?
And the Nexus Tablet is rumored at $199.
Neither of these comments matter, but exaggerations do need a limit. -

Big Lots has been known to heavily discount a Cruz tablet that they sell. It is a piece of junk but it has been priced anywhere between $40-$100 depending on when and where you pick it up. I think I saw that tablet (or a similar one) for $40 in their Black Friday TV ad. They are also selling the Polaroid tablet for less than $100.

And I have a Big Lots 10 minutes from where I live and they were selling an Android Tablet for $49 which I wouldn't buy for $17. So much for exaggeration. -
Comparing a Kindle Fire (or a $49 tablet that isn't worth $17) to an iPad (no matter the version) is not even close to an apples-to-apples comparison. Also, if someone has an iPad that they intend to sell and ask what a good selling price would be, and if the approximate going rate is more than *you*, a forum user with no intention to buy, is willing to spend, why even worry about a price that you think may be inflated? If you're not buying it, who cares? When you sell, if there's demand, who cares if the buyer is willing to overspend? Even without overspending, these products are grossly inflated, value-wise, but hey, I'm not complaining (I've an iPad myself). It's a bit difficult to not be happy that you are capable of selling an iPad and can recoup a high percentage of the money you spent for it. Trust me, it's not a problem for a seller to wrap their heads around.
Everyone here should already know that Apple products retain their value more than any other equivalent piece of electronic equipment...that's always been the case, no matter if you don't agree as to why. You're NEVER going to be able to sell a current revision Kindle Fire for 50-75% of the original purchase price. Those who complain about inflated pricing of Apple products usually don't understand that the quality and workmanship in these products are usually unmatched. And that's not pulled from the rectum...that's pretty much common knowledge to anyone but grandmas and grandpas.
If you don't like Apple (or Harley or whatever), just don't buy it. Be happy with a Kindle Fire (which will satisfy many people, BTW) if that's what floats your boat, but realize that a Fire is no direct iPad replacement by any means.

"Google’s rumored tablet ... could be priced as low as $149"
"Android and Me's anonymous supply chain source says..."
"A potential partnership between [Google] and Asus"
"Now a new rumor has emerged that Google is ready to drop the bar on tablet pricing."
I'm not saying whether it will happen, but when someone calls something out as a rumor, it's poor form to offer a rebuttal that just cites more rumors.
