Is it really only 90 days? Also, is it worth it to get the Apple Protection Plan?
-
sorry about that, the australian site doesnt show anything like that
-
so now you are considering a mac?

All Macs (desktops and notebooks) have a one-year standard Limited Warranty which has only 90 days of tollfree customer phone support. But it is free to have customer support from Apple Stores and such.
AppleCare Protection Plan is a good investment to make, considering notebooks are constantly being moved around, and three years in technology is quite a long time. Not to mention when you are, if you are selling your Mac later on, having AppleCare with that will give the buyer more assurance (yes, AppleCare is transferable). -
i was just wondering as 90 days is absurd for a premium notebook

This isn't the first time I've received service like this. A year or so ago, a Mac Genuis installed OSX into an old G4 tower that somebody gave my youngest. The machine worked but the OS was a Chinese version, plus we didn't have a password for the system. Again, no charge, and the Genius wouldn't even accept a mocha from the Peet's shop next door as payment. He never even mentioned the password issue to us.
One last little Apple service story: nine days after the warranty expired on my gf's iPod, the hard drive broke. I took it to the Apple Store intending to get it fixed. Instead, the Genius just gave me a brand new iPod, with an additional 90 days warranty!
None of these issues are really huge deals, I suppose, but when added up, along with a few other things I've not mentioned here, Apple service, at least for me, has very consistently been nothing short of spectacular. I've gotten my money's worth buying Apple products.
So, to answer the question: I personally, except for iPods, don't bother with warranty extensions or worry about the 90 days of phone support. If I lived too far from an Apple Store to visit when problems arose, my opinion might be different, I suppose.
LOL Sorry for the length of this dissertation, but after reading so many Apple bashing threads lately, it was time to post something positive about Apple, without arguing about which hardware or OS was best, whether the product is worth the cost, or if somebody should buy a MBP or an XPS.
How much warranty does the base MacBook Pro have?
