    How often does Time Machine make a backup?

    I just realized that my external HD is almost full! Time Machine's backups are clogging my HD's space.

    How often does TM make a backup? Because I have 3 folders dated for today. Are each of those a backup of today's disk? Seems a bit excessive...

    Once and hour. There are third party programs that you can use to change the timing.

    Do you know any such program?

    Also, i noticed that there's a folder called 'Latest,' and that is by far the largest folder in terms of size (around 100gb). So I have latest, and I have 3 folders dated today...

    Explanation?/

    Does time machine automatically get rid of the oldest backup when it runs out of space? I thought time machine was supposed to be automated.

    Yup, once the drive is full, it starts deleting the oldest backups to make rooms for new ones.
