Every time I boot up, the computer asks me if I want to join a network. (I'm at work so the computer no longer senses my home network)

I have to select "Join other network", type in the encryption method (WPA2 Enterprise), type in my user name, and password each time.

Is this meant to be a security protocol for encrypted networks?

Or is there a way for my Mac to see this network when booting up, and automatically apply my encryption and username/password?

    Thanks!

So you have to physically type in the Network name every time, even if you have checked the Remember This Network checkbox? If that is the case, then it's probably some sort of network security and there is nothing you can do about it. If not, make sure to check the Remember This Network checkbox.
