When I complete a search in Spotlight and close the search tool, I'm always done using it. However, when I open it up for a new search, the last search terms remain in the search field. As easy as it is to delete the old term with a keystroke, this behaviour is annoying.
Is it possible to have the field cleared upon exiting Spotlight?

Nobody has any ideas?

Mine does the same thing. I so rarely use Spotlight, that I would not have recognized it as a change or not, from SL.
But in those cases where I would use it, I would see it as a feature, not a bug. If the document/search item was not what I wanted, I would like that I don't have to re-enter the search term. -
I don't use Spotlight frequently, though I do make use of it; I suppose its something I can live with.
On an unrelated topic, have you noticed that Mission Control doesn't display minimized windows? -
Yeah, Mission Control is definitely a new app that has a long way to go to be fully practical. You would have thought something so glaring would not have escaped Beta. I wonder about the Beta program, as far as being a real testing ground. Someone dropped the ball here.

That's just Apple being Apple. When have they ever gotten anything right on the first try? That 'rule' goes for both their hardware and their software.
-
I suppose you are right.
I can't wait for version OS X 10.7.9, LOL.
I bet it's gonna be awesome.

One could always just hit the close button to remove the Spotlight search words.
Minimized windows are done via a swipe, per app only.
How to stop Spotlight from keeping last search upon closing
