I want to get the upgraded 15in purely for the video card but personally dont think the extra 500 is worth it. I could easily just go an extra $100 and get a g1s for the same performance.

My question as the title says, will there be a huge difference between the 128mb video card vs the 256mb card?

With the 128 will I be able to play current games at medium to high settings? Will I probably be able to run games on medium at least for the next two years?

Judging by the 3dmark06 score alone, 256 is at least one third faster than
    128.

If you are rich, go get the 256mb. Econ 101 should tell you - Diminishing Return.

I'm doing the research on which 15"MBP to go with myself. For the $500, you get the 2.4ghz cpu, and the 256MB graphics card. I'm just having a hard time finding data to use to quantify the performance differences.

Could anyone point me to some good links on the performance differences of the new cpus and graphics cards? All of my bookmarked sites tend to focus more on desktop components (tomshardware, anandtech, those kinds of places), and don't get the mobile comparisons out very quickly.

Well, I was thinking about the same thing, the 128 MB card scores similar to a 7900 GS, so I think it should probably be fine for two years.
