It looks interesting, and according to Engadget they say that the casing is entirely made out of one solid piece of metal.
-
is it going to be pricey? you betcha!

This topic has been beat to death over and over at macrumors.
I'm really surprised there hasn't been a lot of discussion about it here as of yet.
There's so many people (many machinists too) coming out of the woodwork that say it's basically not possible to hollow out a one piece shell from a solid brick, let alone the extremely high costs. I'm personally doubting the rumor, although I do believe the new macs will be aluminum.
Second, that whole rumor that apple will be lowering the cost of the upcoming refresh I think was misunderstood. In a conference call, it was mentioned that in the fourth quarter apple will be tightening the belt, lowering their profit margin for a "transition" product. Well, the new ipods have come out, and they are cheaper, and I think it was that product they were talking about it, not some mystery macbook refresh.
Just my thoughts. -
booo... here i was hoping for a new Mac desktop to be release that bridges the gap between the iMac and Mac Pro. Maybe a headless iMac...
The "transition product" Apple referred to in the conference call doesn't seem to fit the new IPod's that have been released. Those were just (IMO) lack-luster updates. -
it looks good
I think we will get more in next 24 hours
-
Well the only thing I can think of about the manufacturing process is that it's made to "look" like it was made from one piece of material, when in fact it may not have been.
That'd make logical sense, as theres plastic in the seams of the current gen MBP's.
So maybe it just implies that it "looks" like it was made from a brick. -
This is good
This means there might be a update soon
Maybe Apple is just going to surprise us.
-
i guess macbook is also aluminum after all.
-
the bits where the aluminium abuts the plastic on my mbp has always annoyed the **** out of me, there are so many parts where it looks like it doesnt fit right.
I bet the Brick Casing Photo is real
