A week ago I bought the Toshiba A505-S6965 laptop at Best Buy and I really don't like it and its going back to the store today. It has a terrible screen (losses a lot of picture detail, and has bad backlighting), and a slick feel keyboard that my fingers feel like that they are slipping from typing. This week I had to do 3 system recoveries on it that lasted a couple hours each time, because of malfunctions with it.

Now back to the topic. This morning I just ordered the enty level 15" MBP at Best Buy without a extended waranty and I'm going to pick it today. I have a few questions on it:
    1. Does the new MBP get hot like previous MBPs with the Intel CPU?
    2. Can I extend the warranty with Apple anytime?
    3. Can I install Windows 7 (I have some programs that require Windows) when the retail version comes out next month?
    4. How easy is it to upgrade the hard drive and RAM?
    5. How loud are the fans?
    6. Is the screen good?

Ditto. The access is actually better (easier) than earlier models once you pop the clam's shell after taking out all those little screws. Swapping the battery is also a no-brainer, in spite of Apple's position that it's not a user-replaceable part. The only thing to watch for is the screws closest to the screen: on my 13.3 MBP three were short but one was much longer, so if you find something similar you'll want to be sure to mark where each goes.

I picked up my entry level 15" screen MBP at Best Buy that I ordered this morning and wow this notebook rocks :D . Its way better than the faulty Toshiba A505-S6965 that I returned at Best Buy (thank goodness that I did not got charge a restocking fee). My question is "should I go and buy the Best Buy extended warranty or buy the AppleCare warranty?

AppleCare for sure, also I'd try to find the AppleCare from a reputable ebay reseller so you can save some $$$.

Yeh, I was so close to ordering a Asus, THANK GOD! I didn't. Enjoy your new apple macbook PRO! :D

AC is many, many times over better than the BBuy warranty, plus you get 3 years of free telephone tech support as part of the deal.

Never ever ever buy bestbuys warranty for a computer, I know some one who's computer was at bestbuy for over a month getting fixed, still not even sure if he has gotten it back yet.

I got my warranty when purchasing my MacBook Pro, I went directly through apple though which would be the best bet. Dealing with Best Buy is a hassle and annoying I've had to do so with my old desktop not worth the issues I ended up doing everything myself as appose to taking it to them hahaha

Wow Kage, I was close to buying that same model too. So glad I held off buying it, especially after reading your post. Thanks, I feel much better now. :)
