I'm looking into getting an Apple laptop for school this year (I'll be a college freshman) and can't decide between the 12-inch Powerbook and the 14-inch ibook. The models I am looking at are the same cost. So my question is this - how much of a difference is there between the 1.33ghz processor on the Powerbook and the 1.2 on the ibook? Will there be a noticable difference in peformance? I plan to use it only for basic tasks - internet, itunes, word processing. Secondly, which is better in terms of noise and heat output?
Also, I have heard that Apple will unveil new products on June 28 and it is best to wait until after this date to order, as prices may drop and new things may be available. Is this good adice?
Thanks for any input.

Go for the 12 inch Powerbook. My wife has one and loves it. The PB supports monitor spanning, has a faster system bus, comes with a larger hard drive, supports more RAM, etc. The PB keyboard is much nicer. Also the 14in iBook has a relatively low res screen compared to the Powerbook. A 12 inch laptop is quite easy to carry. Max out the RAM, get Applecare, and buy the combo drive model to save cash. Since you are a student, you are eligible for the education discounts. This will help with software as well as hardware expenses.
My favorite Mac web sites are Dealmac (http://dealmac.com), VersionTracker (http://www.versiontracker.com/macosx/); and the MacFixit Forums (http://www.macfixitforums.com/). With these three sites you can solve nearly any Mac issue: deals on Mac stuff, Mac software with reviews, and any Mac problems you can name by searching the forum. Good luck and study hard!
