...would you buy one?
Imagine this:Apple introduces a decent netbook @ this MacWorld-it has a great screen(9" or 10"),Atom CPU with nVidia/intel chipset,decent battery,etc.,aluminum body,etc. .!BUT! is costs about 20% more then others-like 600$!So,will you buy one?
-
Maybe, If the specs where good, the problem with net books now is Microsoft. They won't allow company's to sell XP with there net books if they specs are to high (over 1gb of RAM, etc..) so Apple won't have to deal with that so maybe they could come out with something decent.
-
I don't have a use for one, maybe others do.
-
netbooks are already waaaay overpriced. me personally, i won't buy a netbook until prices go under 250$. for the 600$ you mentioned, i could buy a proper, full-sized laptop...
-
^yes, but that notebook would be 15"+,weight more then 5.5 pounds and have ~2 hours of battery!I bought my eee for 450 and use it 10x more then my HDX!IMO,it is worth every 0.1$
-
Ehh....sounds intriguing, but I think I'd just hold out for a MB/MBP. Can't fully appreciate all that Apple goodness in something so tiny
lol
-
Just buy an MSI Wind.
Much cheaper.
-
Macbook Nano. Who knows.
After Steve's speech with the release of MB/MBP I doubt it. -
but if they make one, will you consider buying it?
-
^yeah, but imagine that in aluminum, thinner, lighter, with a little larger button-less trackpad and proper mac os snow leopard! ah,dreams
-
how fascinating, an MSI Wind with an apple logo glued on the lid... *yawn*
-
Maybe. But maybe not. I've given Apple a few tries but I still prefer Windows.
Apple has to come up with a really good netbook to get me to buy one. -
I see...what about "tablet"?

IMHO, OS X on current macbook is not suitable for small screen. So if Apple is trying to make a netbook, they should build a special OS X version for it.
-
I wouldnt buy one; a 13" screen is about as small as I would like to go on a laptop.
-
Why not?
.... -

My minimum is 10"
-
I had no problems with my macbook

It's not a problem with macbook. I just think that many features of OSX and it's softwares such as the drag-and-drop cut, Expose,...etc and even the dock are better used on a big screen. When I switch from Macbook to Macbook Pro (or use an external monitor), I feel that this idea is right.
-
I think you mean every 0.01(0.1=10 cent).
I probably wouldn't buy an Apple netbook, because I don't see my self buying any netbook in the first place.
I already have a 13" MacBook, which is small enough(migrated from a 17" laptop xD). TBH, I find netbooks a bit gimmicky, if I ever bought one I'd probably feel forced to buy an external monitor too, and a keyboard, and due to the fact most of them have strange trackpads, probably a mouse, if I were to actually use it, and by then it'd only be logical to buy a normal notebook, or a desktop.
BUT, if I were to buy a netbook, for some reason or another, I probably would pay the extra for the Apple one, however, $600 is only around £300 or so, which isn't that much off the high end netbooks anyway(i.e Acer Aspire One).

I will save more $ then go for an old TX/TZ Vaio or 1st gen MBA rather than spend few hundreds bucks for a netbook, anyway
-
If Apple wants to go super small.....they don't have to drop into the realm of netbooks, all they need to do is come up with a competitor to the Vaio TT and undercut the price. If it looked good, that'd be something I'd buy
-
I don't think Apple will release a netbook, simply because of the way that Steve Jobs talked at the latest Notebook event back in October. 13 inches is about the smallest I would go with a notebook, because any smaller, and I would be blind by the time I turn 40. I would hook a netbook up to an external monitor, external keyboard, and most likely a mouse, because everything is so small on those things!
-
yes i would, i plan to buy another hp laptop/ the new 10 inch screen netbook maybe from them too, but not now i dont have money
-
Adding to the "imagine" of a Mac Netbook, how about this one about a 7-9" iPod Touch?
http://tech.yahoo.com/news/pcworld/20081231/tc_pcworld/nextfromapplealargescreenipodtouch_1
Now would that be another version of Netbook, à la Mac style, would it not?
cheers ... -
Macbook Air is apple's netbook.
-
Between a larger iPod touch, the 13" MB and the MB Air....that pretty much takes care of the whole 'netbook' idea from Apple's side....albeit at a somewhat exorbitant price point
-
A tabletish Internet device sounds like a probable response from Apple when it comes to netbooks. If this device indeed exists, here's some questions to consider:
- How well does it integrate with the iPhones and iPods? Is syncing possible?
- Is there a built-in GPS module?
- The price point. -
I would love for it to happen and I would almost certainly buy one if it did... but I really don't think it will happen.
Oh, how I used to pine for the Powerbook G4 12"... always did want Apple to make a smaller, widescreen version of that (10-11" somewhere). -
If Apple makes a netbook, I'm switching to Dell.
-
Why?
Are you one of those who purchase Apple simply because it's a high priced band and you don't want something cheap diluting it? Do you consider it a sort of status symbol that makes you special from the people out there toting Dells, Acers, and HPs? -
If Apple makes a netbook, then all the fanboys who hated netbooks will all of sudden embrace the Apple netbook. Afterwards, the fanboys will scoff at lesser "PC" based netbooks even though the casing and hardware are the same. Then Apple fanboys will proclaim how Apple invented the netbook and how every company copied Apple once again.
-
Man,I am now really angry!
-
Wow, it seems like all you do is troll in the Apple Forums.
-
Apple finally released their netbook! Only 17" screen though, and 8hrs of battery life. . .
If apple makes a netbook...
