I've just moved from a pc to a mac and I'm transitioning quite well. I do have one question concerning the mac. I'm sure this thread has been covered before but after searching through the 8 first pages, I lost patience. I was just wondering if there were anything I could do to improve my macbook's performance without upgrading the hardware. In the PC, you can use diagnostic tools such as defrag, you can disable auto-update, etc.. I was wondering if there were some things I could do to my mac to improve its system performance? Thanks in advance.

You can always reinstall Leopard and only install the actually programs you need. For example, the extra languages use up a lot of room, other things like that.

Read the stickies. If you want a maintenance application for OS X try MainMenu and/or OnyX. Both are Freeware.
