Hey guys,
I popped in the disc and selected Install. Well it starts installing and I go downstairs for about 15. When I come back up, the screen is off but the disc is still spinning. It's been going on like this for about 20 minutes now.
Is the screen suppose to go blank while installation occurs?
This is installing on a fresh new Macbook pro 13.
Someone shed some light?

Then just run disc utilities at the top menu and just format and wipe clean the hdd and install SL. That's how I did it to both my machines. I want a clean slate.
Oh and dont forget to backup the stuff you'd want though. It was easy for me since I have 3 hdds in my mac pro. -
Could you give me a detailed description on how to clean install SL?
I clicked on disc utilities. Then what? Do I select the Macintosh HD? -
if The disk is becoming unresponsive during installation then I would recommend calling into Apple Care.

Okay. So i jus went ahead and held down the power button and turned it off. I started up the mbp again and checked the software number. It says 10.6 so its running SL i hope.
Everything seems fine and working. Im in the process of recalibrating my battery. So far im loving the mac. Still trying to transition from a PC though
-_-
Is there any other steps I should take on this new mbp? I registered the product on Apple already as well.
Thanks for the responses btw. Im glad to be apart of the mac community and hope to contribute to this sub-forum! -
I'm highly recommending that you check out Mac 101. Don't take this the wrong way but you shouldn't rely on the forum to teach you step by step about using your Mac. It's relatively easy to learn but you'll find yourself creating multiple threads for help if you don't take time to learn the system yourself as you did in Windows.

I had the same thing happen during my install. The screen went blank because it was turned off due to inactivity(because you weren't using it). The install was still running and everything should be fine as long as you didn't interrupt the process. All I did was swipe my fingers across the touchpad and the screen woke up (experience may vary depending on your settings).
