...couldn't I just boot camp Linux Ubuntu and use WINE to run any windows only applications I may have? If it is possible, gosh, it sure beats paying for windows![]()

Okay, I think you are going about this the hard way. You can use Codeweavers-Crossover Mac and run Wine on through the Mac OS for your Windows applications. http://www.codeweavers.com/products/cxmac/

You can use Crossover, but it's not free. And either way, Wine (and thus Crossover) does not ensure 100% compatibility. Most Windows programs still won't work well or at all. It's no substitute for Windows.

well, yea. but the programs I would use are paint.net and pivot stickfigure animator, so no biggie.

Try Sun's Virtual Box http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/2.1.2/VirtualBox-2.1.2-41885-OSX.dmg
-
You can run Wine in OS X as well through X11. -
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
you won't get the same level of compatability as with windows.
also, at that point, you might as well just run wine within os x. its unix.
curious- do you happen to be a student (have a .edu email address)? -
I love iWork '09

Instead of buying windows...
