Hi,
I bought my first macbook little over a week ago and loved it until I started to experience intermittent keyboard freezing. Every hour or two, keyboard will freeze for about 5 mins and return back as normal. During this time, everything else works fine.
Thinking that it was a defect, I brought mine in to the apple store today for an exchange. Spoke to the store manager, and found out that it was mainly due to the Leopard, not the hardware. He even showed me a printed document from Apple saying that notebook users with Leopard installed may experience intermittent keyboard freezing and this isnt a hardware problem but Leopard. He then tells me that there will be a software update anytime soon to address this problem and that even if I exchange for another one, it will have the same problem until the new update is released.
Anyways, I exchanged for a 120GB (80GB was too small for me anyways) with no restocking fee, which is good.
Has anyone experienced this keyboard freezing problem?
I dont know if I should open up my new macbook or just return it if it's going to have the same problem after a while.
Thanks,
-
Well, if what he says is true, then why not just wait it out until the next Sofware Update arrives? Of course, they haven't said when that happens, but since Apple has acknowledged the issue I think the update will be pretty soon.
And I don't have Leopard, so I haven't experienced it. -
I get a trackpad freeze sometimes.
Apple+Tab seems to free it up in my case.
Happens maybe 2-3 times a week and I use my computer a lot. -

You're not the only one, apparently.

Never happened to me under Tiger, so, I'd say there's definitely a Leopard connection.
