I was planning on purchasing another Macbook Pro with an educational discount from the online Apple Store and noticed an image of a MBP with the message, "College seniors, it's your last chance to save up to $200 on a new Mac." I assumed they meant once you graduate college, you can no longer utilize the Educational Discount, but it doesn't hurt to check with others! Also, does anyone know when the $299 toward an iPod will be coming out again? Thanks!
-
Yep, you're right! It's telling College SENIORS that since they are at the end of the road in terms of college, they only have a short amount of time before they can't utilize the education discount.
-
Yep, I'd figure that they wouldn't get rid of the educational discount for two reasons.
1. It's main PC rivals offer educational discounts
2. Mac's are very popular with the high school/college crowd.
-
Indeed. At first when I glanced at it, I thought Apple was getting rid of educational discount and was in shock. Then I realized they were simply trying to get college seniors to make a purchase.
Any idea with the iPod education discount? -
Off topic. Do you need to be in college to get the discount?
-
That is the point of an educational discount. So unless said discount also applies to high school students or similar (assuming you are in high school).
But if you are in no school whatsoever, none of these discounts will apply to you. -
If you are a teacher at a college or k-12 school, you are eligible for the discount though.
-
Well, technically you only need to be able to provide proof of enrollment, and some stores will accept an .edu e-mail address...which most colleges let you keep for perpetuity...so....
-
Yeah the student discount is very nice, I got my macbook with a large student discount, and a free 3 year extended warranty it was great. I only paid exactly $1000 for a unibody macbook. I think only the big pc makers offer it like hp/dell/sony/ibm so it sucks I won't get it on my clevo I'm buying.

I don't expect Apple to be canceling any discounts in this economy
. There will be an extra promotion nearing Back to School with a free iPod Nano included.
Of course, that's not guaranteed but its happened for the past few years and I see no reason for them to cancel it! -
Lethal Lottery Notebook Betrayer
The discount is pretty insignificant when your spending $1000- 3000 on a system, and your particular enough to want an apple, i doubt $99 or so is going to be a deal breaker for you. Its basically like getting the system tax free.
-
Every little counts!
-
Im pretty sure there going to be offering their free ipod or printer thing when the time comes for back to school
-
Especially in this economy!
That $100 for a student is quite a lot to just let go with the notebook, when you can get it back through the discount.

Oregon has no sales tax

Yes, this is true. I purchased a MBP with a free iPod Nano and an iMac with a free iPod Touch. I just never paid attention to WHEN the iPod promotion starts. I just recall purchasing a MBP in mid-August and an iMac in late July. Does anyone have an estimate when the promotion will start?
-
Homeschoolers get an education discount. So do school board members. Homeschoolers need to bring their district paperwork to Apple Stores. They don't need to show anything if buying online.
-
I saved about 350 canadian dollars buying my apple notebook through Educational discount, yes I get 10 percent off :/
-
Do you guys think that the iPod promotion with begin again in June?
-
Probably not, because they usually do the iPod promotion when going back to school, so it's likely to be August.
-
i second this. keep your eyes open for these promotions.
-
Well, I purchased an iMac last summer during July and the iPod promotion was active then. I was just wondering when the earliest date will be. I'm anxious for another MBP!

How did you get a uni-body Macbook with AppleCare for $1,000??? On their website they only give you a $50 educational discount (on the $1,300 Macbook) and don't include AppleCare from what I can tell. Did you have to call them and haggle with a sales representative?
Is Apple getting rid of Educational Discount?
