Is it worth waiting for Leopard?

I have a new MBP 2.2GHZ that was delivered to my home today and waiting for me to open. I was wondering for those who know and listened or read the WWDC keynote address from Jobs, if it was worth waiting to October and getting a MBP then when Leopard is installed. I'm not really concerned about cost ($130) but more about the migration from Tiger to Leopard. Does apple give any kind of discount to those who recently purchased Macs before a new OS is released?

I have been using the same 4+ year old laptop and although I could continue to use it, I would like to use a new machine.

    Thanks for your comments.

It's not hard to 'migrate' between versions of OSX. Just save you documents/pictures before you do it. There is NO discount on the software unless you're a student or developer. If you need/want to use the computer now, then do it. If you're waiting for updated hardware (Macbook?) then wait.

Does a migration require installation of any third party applications that have been installed? Also, has it been better to wait a period of 3 to 6 months before installing a Mac OS upgrade to let them work out the bugs?

i think leopard will be relatively bug free as they have delayed and worked on it so much. the transition will probably be very easy, just back up all of your files. the functionality of the actual OS will be very similar, leopard just has alot of new eye candy like features.

use your new laptop and just get leopard when it comes out, and you should have no trouble when it is first released.

Apple didn't add enough or change enought to be worried about an major bugs etc.

    enjoy your new machine!!

I would also add myself to the list who says wait, that's what i'm planning to do as well. When October rolls around both the new iMacs and Leopard should both be available.

And a slight correction to another comment. Apple does offer a major discount to an OS upgrade, only if you buy the system within 30 days of a new OS release. In the past it's been either $19 or $29 bucks for a set of new OS discs.
