I was wondering if there's rumors that anything aside from the CPU is going to be upgraded in the upcoming Jan update, I could really use a new MBP right now, I'll be working heavily on a project from mid November to mid December but, if the update is really worth it I can hold myself and code with my 3yr old 1.60Ghz Pentium M laptop

what do you think guys? what would you do?

If you need it now, you'll probably be better off buying it now

Jan's update will most likely be the update to Penyrn, just minor speed boost

Do not wait and buy one now. i just ordered one too!

Well, despite rumors, there is no guarantee that the MBP will actually be updated in Jan. Apple may very well wait for the next gen graphics cards and even a platform change before moving. No one knows. If they do go ahead with the January update, it won't likely be that significant as aprodigy said.

There's always something new and exciting coming and it's just beyond the horizon. If you can wait, wait. If you need a new machine now, as aprodigy said, go for it and enjoy!

If the processors are released in January I doubt Apple will be shipping machines before February.

Hey, thanks for all the replies,

I think I'll buy one in the next couple of weeks, as aprodigy said it'll be just a slight performance boost which might not be worth the wait for me to let say February if Penyrn is to be released in Jan, nice observation cashmonee

I heard that apple usually reveals upgrades in mbp's at the developer conferences, anyone know when that is/ how much truth that holds?

Well, not the last two WWDCs, I don't know about WWDC 2005.

The only reason that is so is because the MBP is a professional machine, and attendees at WWDC usually are the professionals that buy the MBP and Mac Pro machines.

But now that Apple is with Intel, I'd say MBP updates will follow Intel updates and not really Apple-set dates anymore.
