Hi
I am getting my MBP next week and wonder if I should use the mighty mouse with it. I liked the fact that it is bluetooth and when I used it at the apple store it seemed pretty cool.
Any input would be great.
thanks

I personally don't like the Mighty Mouse...not a great design, and the trackball is delicate. So my opinion? Don't get it. Apple makes fantastic products but its mice aren't one of them.
I do highly recommend the Logitech VX Revolution, though. I do notice you mentioned Bluetooth, so my next suggestion is the Logitech V270. Not as cool-looking or as comfortable as the VX Revolution, but its Bluetooth. -
It's not one of the best I have used but not worst either - right clicking could be little bad at times - but other than that I use is 100% now with my iMac - it's not that bad.

stealthsniper96 What Was I Thinkin'?
a lot of people dont like them, but from what ive done just playing around in the store with them they dont seem that bad. what you might wana do is look on ebay and see how cheap you can get a wired one and try it out that way. andthen whether you like it or not, you can just put it back up there and get around the same you paid for it.

I hate the mighty mouse. The scroll ball thing is too small to be used effectively, and the squeeze buttons are just pure crap. I strongly recommend you spend your money on a good Logitech or Microsoft mouse.
-
i suggest the wireless mighty mouse. i will agree with Budding, that the squeeze buttons are sub-par but it's still a great mouse. i havent had any problems with connectivity or right-click's thus far....and it's been about two months. gl with your purchase.

I've had a wired then BT MM for the past couple of years. Other than the squeeze buttons it isn't a half bad mouse. I actually like the scroll ball and I've never had any issues with it. I use a Logitech MX revolution these days. The scroll wheel works very well with spreadsheets.

What do you plan to do with your MBP? Any gaming? You'll be sorely disappointed with the Mighty Mouse if you plan to use it for any gaming. You cannot right & left-click simultaneously.
-
I have a quick question, and don't mean to hijack the thread
.
Can you right click with the mighty mouse like with a regular mouse? Or do you still have to do a double fingered click or something?
Also, can any mouse plug into a macbook? -
And basically any mouse will connect with the Mac. -
^^ Sam was too fast
For the Mighty Mouse to right-click you go into the Keyboard & Mouse preference pane and select "Secondary Button." Then you press down on that side of the mouse. Otherwise you can use the CTL + Click for a right-click. See picture for reference:
Any USB mouse can plug into a MacBook. (You can also probably use a Serial-to-USB adapter for older mice). You should check the manufacturer's support website to see if the mouse has Mac OS X support (drivers/software). Although some mice do not require drivers to function properly, you may lose some extended functionality without drivers (like extra buttons may not work). -
I think that the right click is ok, but the price is not good. I would suggest that you get a wired mouse, like the logitech wireless mouse(<20 $), it is used the same way.
-
I don't have either, but these two Bluetooth mice look interesting to me:
Logitech V470 Cordless Laser Mouse for Notebooks
Microsoft Bluetooth® Notebook Mouse 5000 -
For Bluetooth mice, I recommend the Logitech V270. In my opinion, its more comfortable than the V470.

. I guess I worded my previous post a little too "confidently". Based on pictures of it that I've seen, I don't think it will be too comfortable on the hand.
So yeah, no, I haven't tested it out, nor have I seen it in person. My previous post was a little too "premature".

It's all good
. It's nice to hear your opinion. I'm really not that picky about mice. For example, I mostly use a Logitech Optical Mouse. And for me, it works perfectly fine.
Same thing with Browsers. I don't understand why people use more than 2. I use Firefox and Safari and that's all I need.
To each his own. Peace. -
get any optical mouse and you'll be fine
-
Hmm, Bluetooth-wise, I like that new Microsoft BT Notebook mouse. If you want to go with regular wireless, go with a Logitech VX Nano. Best notebook mouse ever made, but its a bit on the pricey side. I personally don't like the other Logitech mice, which is why I prefer the MS notebook mouse.
And the Mighty Mouse sucks, plain and simple. Its overpriced to boot. Avoid it, unless it comes free with your computer (like it did mine...I replaced it.) -
In case it wasn't clear about the right-clicking part...
you can right-click, BUT, because of the way it's designed you can click both buttons at the same time. Also, sometimes you may find that you'll need to lift one finger to click the other side. -
Try the Mighty Mouse in a store to see if you like it. I dislike it strongly personally, but the scroll ball is nice while it works. It's the right-clicking that disturbs me.
I use a Logitech wireless mouse and keyboard (Logitech S530 for Mac) myself and I am very happy with both. -
Personally, what I don't like about the Mighty Mouse is its shape and the small (and delicate-feeling) trackball. I don't really mind the clicking, it worked fine for me when I used it in store.

The Mighty Mouse is about as bad as it gets.
It is the poster child of style over substance. -

I personally use the Microsoft Notebook Presenter 8000. It's Bluetooth and has a lot of extra functionality including 5 mouse buttons and a media mode. The media mode is useful for presentations. The mouse officially doesn't support OS X, but Microsoft have silently added full support with their latest OS X drivers to support media mode in PPT and iTunes. Mostly I like it because at the time I couldn't find another Bluetooth mouse with horizontal scrolling other than the Mighty Mouse.
Is the Mighty Mouse good?
