Hi folks,
I'm facing this peculiar and frankly quite frustrating experience -
I've noticed this in both while my computer is plugged in as well as running on batteries ...
say for instance i'm downloading a file that's going to take 20 mins... and i for the timebeing take off from my seat ... leaving the computer unattended... 10-15 mins later i come back and poof.. the downloads been interrupted.. adium has been disconnected...
my energy saving mode is as follows
for battery & plugged in mode (both):
Put computer to sleep when it's inactive for 1hr
Put display to sleep when computer is inactive for 3 mins
put HDD to sleep whenever possible
my screensaver is kept "OFF"
Does anyone have any suggestions on what i can do to rectify this situation? .. i'm quite frankly perplexed.. can't seem to figure out how Leopard is handling this...

i'm not sure but i have similar problems with windows. i think you have to be active with your computer yourself, rather than the computer doing something on it's own for the settings to not go into effect. i've experienced this issue also when download and leaving and coming back and my computer is in standby or something when i had a 1 hr download going on.

I've never had an issue before. What's the Shedule settings in your Energy Safer preferences?
-
I've never had issues with my windows machine... as long as have the system standby and system hibernating settings set for over an hour, it shouldn't be tampering with any computer operations withing that time frame....
I don't have any schdule settings enabled in the energy saver preferences... so... it's definitely not an issue stemming from there.
any other ideas? -
In system preferences, I have changed sleep to never. This allows me to use back to my mac without having somebody at the house to wake up my Macbook so I can get in. If you have not ever looked at this setting, then it IS the problem. By default, sleep is set to something that is IMHO far too aggressive. I guess Apple is into the green thing too deep. Go look at your setting. I bet it's set for 15 minutes to sleep. Try 45 minutes or even 3 hours and your problems should cease. I do have my screen set to blank in 15 minutes, but that doesn't stop my Time Machine, isync or any other background/crontab tasks.

chck my original post..
