I ordered my 15" 2.4 GHz MBP online on Monday, the 8th of October. It arrived today, Monday, October 15th!!

I think everyone is sitting on their hands waiting for Leopard to be released; meanwhile, people like me are getting their new macs NOW, and can simply walk into an Apple store the day Leopard is released to get their OSX upgrade.

Even if I do end up paying the full $129 for the upgrade... I would easily pay that to avoid the rush of Leopard orders Apple is soon to receive (and the resulting delays).

Is anybody else reconsidering the wait???

good for you, sagebrush...is it up to your expectations? I think I will wait until OS X Leopard is out...and order as my Xmas present. Hopefully if there are any bugs with Leopard initially they will be ironed out by then. Did you get matte or glossy?

So far it is great! The matte screen looks really nice. I had gone into the Apple store a while back to compare, so I already knew I was making the right choice with the matte.

As of now, I am not taking on any freelance jobs that would require me to need my MBP for anything important, so I am waiting to perform all of my installs and customizations until after I get Leopard installed (I'd rather not worry about backing anything up). In my experience with computers, performing a fresh install of a new OS is always a better choice than merely upgrading.

Thanks for the input, sage....that is good you have nothing important to use the MBP for until you get new operating system. Seems like I heard Leopard would be released on Oct 26...so VERY soon! Your MBP must be awesome with the 4GB of RAM.

You think that's bad, I ordered mine on the last day of the Mac + Ipod offer and it took over 3 weeks to get here.

You've misunderstood my thread. A one week delivery on a MBP is incredibly good! I am ecstatic, not upset.

When I ordered my first iPod, and ordered 2-day shipping, so I'd have it before a long road trip, they took three weeks to get it to me. I actually recieved a 3rd gen iPod after they'd started selling the 4th gen, and after getting home from the trip. I almost didn't buy my second one 2-3 years later because of that...

uhh... congrats on the timely delivery of you macbook pro  :D

I think the OP made the right choice in buying his MBP with Tiger preinstalled. At least if he gets Leopard free he will have 2 copies of Mac OS X. Although I'm certain that Leopard should be rock stable it's always nice to have a backup. Remember you can't get a retail copy of Tiger for Intel so he made out. I did the same with my new iMac, I didn't want to wait for Leopard, I just wanted my iMac. :)

It just uses your outgoing IP address from your ISP. It couldn't tell you an exact address or anything.

    Grats!

For what it's worth I ordered my 15.4" Glossy MBP on 20 September, it shipped on 2 October and arrived on 12 October. Wonder if the screen made a difference?

Oh, and I love it :D

Well, it seems that more users get glossy screens, so I would assume that more of them are in production simultaneously compared to matte screen MBPs. But then again, then the demand for glossy would be higher too, so maybe it evens out :p.
