sure the HD 3000 is better over 320m at stock settings, now take MSi afterburner and overclock :D

    also

Some VAIO (E-series) sandy bridge has GF 410M for the gpu, i wonder how?

maybe because of newer drivers on OS X for HD3000?

    I want

    Blu Ray option (Writer)
    85w PSU for 13" and 130w for 15/17"
Core i7 Extreme capable (like 2960XM)
    4 DIMM slots
    USB 3.0
    Fan intake vents
    full chrome plated copper heatsink
    10.000RPM fan
1080p on the 15" (option, base is 1600x900) or retina display
    nvidia gforce graphic
    OC Bios option

I am not getting hostile, I just don't understand why some people continue to crap all over the HD 3000. Yes, I understand that it isn't the best IGP out there and that it took Intel a year to catch up to what Nvidia was doing back in 2010. However, some (mainly one) seem to be over generalizing things by saying it is a bad solution when, in reality, it isn't all that bad and the benchmarks show that it can compete with what Nvidia was offering. Granted, personal tests from someone else pointed out the opposite but other websites are generally saying that the HD 3000 is slightly better than the 320m in OS X. Windows is a different matter where the 320m pulls ahead due to better driver support (that and most OS X games are sloppy Windows ports).

Their main argument is that you have to spend $1800 to buy a notebook from Apple with a GPU. Fair enough, they aren't the only ones doing that though. It is an idea that doesn't seem to be soaking in. That and they are not giving the HD 3000 enough credit. They are obviously set in their narrow ways so I am going to leave things as such. It doesn't matter how many tests, experiences, and benchmarks are thrown one way or the other, they will ALWAYS regard one product as being inferior to the other despite the evidence (at least for OS X, these are Apple forums after all) tipping towards the contrary.

Considering how many people have told you why they don't like it repeatedly, that's a little hard to believe.

No, they haven't caught up to what Nvidia was doing in 2005. In terms of integrated, it doesn't match Nvidia's last ever part from years earlier. Even if it was BETTER, it would still be worse IMO because of driver and use as a CPU, but...

    No they don't.

Which as someone already said, has more to do with greater CPU overhead...

    They're not?

    Umm....

    WHAT evidence?

THIS I have to agree with! I deal with alot of OpenGL applications the Intel HD3000 fully supports up to 3.0, and supports some features up to 3.2. The nvidia 8800 series are back from 2006 and supports OpenGL 3.3, meaning that for some of my applications I can not even LOAD applications on my 2011 13" vs a previous generation unit. and in other cases i lose out on specific rendering abilities the 8600 and 320 could do.....

You can always use an external drive with mac blu ray software or in windows (through VM or boot camp). I have yet to find a good blu ray drive for a good price, or I would do it. I take my MBP with me to school, so a good blu ray would be nice for passing time.

    PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:

Instead of rebutting line by line of posts, just state your case in paragraphs after quoting a post in it's entirety or by subject paragraphs. It's poor form to do line by line rebuttals and makes a response look unnecessarily hostile and argumentative.

    Thank you for your cooperation.

    Sincerely, deal with it.

the next mba or even if there is a 13 mbp, are probably going to be powered by the HD 4000.

Dont like it? Dont buy it.

Dont agree with the performance? Couldnt care less. I can play the games that I want. Is it the performance that I want? nope. Does it give the user what it means, i.e. display the desktop, suport multiple monitors, encode well and so forth yes.

Does it matter that you can OC anything? Nope, not at all. Does it matter to even users like who always played games on OC gpu and cpu, nope.

Disagreeing with someone is one thing, to turn this thread like you guys did? childish at best. There has to be a mod telling us how to handle things? Nope.
