OK, doing that now. Exporting RAWs as JPEGs to the desktop in LightRoom, while editing using Aperture, and listening to the new Goldfrapp album. No real issues, though a couple of spinny beachballs.

However, if I just used LightRoom to export, and LightRoom to continue editing, no issues at all. I much prefer LightRoom to Aperture anyway, and I certainly wouldn't be using both! I also tried web browsing while exporting, with iTunes open and running, Aperture open, LightRoom doing the export, and had no issues surfing.

Man I hate those spinny beachballs, but that is still very impressive and good to know, thanks very much and keep us posted on your temporary toy! :)

Thanks! The more I use it, the more I like it. It's actually a laptop vs my MacBook Pro which is definitely not.

Sadly I returned the 30" ACD because of uneven backlighting which made the whites a different color... its very frustrating.. the 23" ACD is perfect for me in size/color/brightness so I'm happy with it.

I'm really debating on getting a mba now since I've sold my 17" hi res mbp (its a bit too much because I own a mac pro..).

Now I'm debating whether to buy another 15" mbp (which I thought its form factor better suited me or give the mba another shot.

I had a hp 2710p tablet pc and I remember the fan being just as loud as the mba and that didnt bother me.. you know its funny because I got the hp 2710p at the time it was around $2200 for an even trade for my unlocked iphone (first unlocks around from a guy who desperated wanted one) so to me I only paid something like $450. And while using the hp I never cared about the fan noise.. maybe because I got it for so cheap but the mba has about the same noise audible yet it bothered the hell out of me... maybe its all in my mind and I should just live with the fan noise, lol.

You sold the new 17" MBP? Good grief...

Mind you, you probably made the right decision there.

Well, since you have such a powerful Mac Pro at home, the MacBook Air is a nice "accompanying" notebook :). Lightweight, and just awesome design. I don't know...the 15.4-inch MacBook Pro isn't hard to carry around, but of course it is compared to the MBA.

I second that! Sounds like he had a bad experience with an MBA, which seemed to have tainted his opinion of them. I've been enjoying every second with "mine," and I have to give it up in 4 weeks! :(
