I was just having a genius give my macbook a check up and go over some things before I sold it to the buyer, and I had a chance while I was waiting to check out the new 13" MBP's. Wow, they are really beautiful machines, and I think I could really like the new trackpad! That will definitely be my next machine!
Given the recent 1.5gb SATA debacle I checked three MBP's and two macbooks, and two of the MBP's still had 1.5gb listed in profiler (one 13", other 15"). Guess they didn't get around to updating it yet.![]()

But they are really nice looking notebooks!![]()

So you sold your Macbook.
Are you indeed getting a 13" MBP or are you considering other machines as well? -
I think I'm definitely getting a 13" MBP once I get a little more money.
-
I am going to get one once I get back to US
bring on august
-
Try to get it before Sept. 8th though because of the free iPod deal.
-
how was the screen?
-
Very bright and clean! A big difference from the macbook! That's the best way I can describe it. The colors were very vibrant and the light was very clean, no leaking that I could see.
Coming from my old Dell, I was very happy with the macbook screen, but I could see a big difference between the MBP's LED and macbook's screen. The macbook's screen looks kinda washed out in comparison to the MBP. -
what about viewing angels?
-
They seemed better than the macbook, but I wasn't really paying attention to that or calculating angles or anything. I remember at the genius bar though, one of their MBP's was at an angle away from me and I just remember thinking it was better than the macbook.
You should really see it for yourself if you can and decide if you want one or not.
-
Great!
those updated macbooks look quite perfect to me... now, we just need faster GPU and high res screen
-
I don't know if this is any help but on my 17" the viewing angle is spot on, I'm always sick of moving my Dell monitor around to get it perfect so I can watch stuff in bed, my macbook pro I didn't even have to change the way I had it, perfect for me
-
Wow really? I find the 9400m perfect for me, and you can get a higher end dedicated card with the 15" and 17". Plus, I think 1280x800 is perfect for a 13" screen. I don't want to be looking at the screen with a telescope!
The 17" has 1920x1200 and it's more than enough IMHO.
-
It really is, I really like 1920x1200 on 17" laptops though, for it just perfect resolution for the screen size! -
C'om, let me be greedy!
I want something like ATI 4570 which scores 4.2k in 3dmark! -
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
is the 4570 integrated to the motherboard?
could be a reality soon if that is the case. -
Nah man MDA cards are the way to go for dedicated graphics card.
-
I'm anxious to receive my 15" Unibody Macbook Pro now. I ordered the refurbished one with the removable battery and a the 9600. I couldn't get myself to pay 1700 just for a longer battery life, sd card slot, but no 9600. The trackpad on those new machines are amazing.
-
No it is discrete.
Don't think Nvidia will switch to ATi at least not so soon. -
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
i don't think nvidia will ever switch to ATI, but that is just a hunch on my part, since the two companies are in direct competition with each other.
edit:
I am still holding out for McDonalds to switch to Burger King. I'm hopeful for it, and I think it could happen sometime soon. -
You can't really fit the 9600GT in the 13 inch chassis without getting rid of the optical drive or reducing the battery.
Though Apple should have definately included a higher res screen. It's kind of annoying to pay $1200 for a computer with the same resolution as my 5 year old Dell. -
This is getting stupid. I think weinter is just playing games, ignore him.
-
Sony fitted 4570 on SR...
And I am sorry, but that "as my 5 year old dell..." does not work... it is like saying that your 10 year olld ford expedition is bigger then your new m3! -
Typo error: it is Apple will switch from Nvidia to ATi at least not so soon.
-
The SR is significantly thicker than the MBP.
And that is a horrible analogy. Other notebook manufacturers have consistantly increased their screen resolutions in the past few years while Apple has not. -
no it is not-same absurd theory...lots of people think that is is perfect-higher res tires glasses!
Just saw the new MBP 13" at an Apple Store today...
