Who cares? Let the guy stab an MBA and toss it aside. What I found shocking was how dull the Lenovo screen was.

Had he brought it to an apple store, apple would have repaired it free of charge for him if it was still under warranty. In the worst of cases the could have got a few hundred dollars for it on ebay. I would never have imagined doing this on my unibody macbook pro.

was that some type of joke? that Thinkpad was ugly as hell, he could barely even use it... his typing actually got worse when he started using it.

I feel sorry for him though, he might need a psychological evaluation.

Unfortunately apple care only cares for manufacturer's fault. That is, gpu dying or any other malfunctions not caused by the user.

Was kidding, of course, but if Applecare WON'T cover it, maybe there's a warranty with that Ginsu knife...

And "take a stab at it..." Really?!?! Groan....

    yeah, someone said this ealier.

i have the thinkpad x300 as well as the macbook and the macbook pro.

i must say that i prefer typing on the macbooks. the key on the thinkpad, while well shaped and responsive, are a bit firm.

I couldn't see myself doing this to any computer, wether it be a Mac of PC. Things are too valuable and it would only be wasting something somebody else could use. ;)

The gen 1 macbook air did have some issues, but this is overkill. Also the IBM display looks like a pile of poo. It's like he teleported back in time technology wise, from a clean lightweight laptop with a great display to some crappy black thing with shoddy design and screen.

The X300 is FAR from a "crappy black thing with shoddy design and screen". It is built very well and is way more sturdy than a MacBook Air...

excuse me, but the x300 is 1440x900 screen res, vs the MBA 1280x800, the x300 actually has a very nice display, you see the colour in the video not as vibrat because the thinkpad screen is a matte variety. the MBA is glossy.

yes, i agree, the macbook air wins outright in beauty contest.

but the x300 is a far cry from being "crappy black thing" the X300 design is beautifully utilitarian. its also pack with feature, it has 3 usb port, an interchangeable ultrabay (your choice of cd drive or extra battery), carbon fibre lid with glass fibre hybrid construction as not to intrude the wireless performance, magnesium chassis, magnesium internal roll-cage, shock mounted removable from outside harddrive bay, SATAII SSD, the 1st gen MBA uses the ancient PATA interface if im not mistaken, WWAN, Wi-Max, 2 user interchangeable battery, STEREO SPEAKERS!. spill-resistant keyboard with drain hole.

the X300 is such a technological achievement in its own right.

the MBA is actually not an achievement when it comes to thinnest, this VAIO X505 is made in 2004. http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=1970

    ThinkPad keyboards >>> Mac keyboards.

The ThinkPad is the anti-cool. That is what makes it cool.

Well it's a matter of personal preference. Thinkpad keyboards, going back to the time when they were still IBM manufactured, were as close to a desktop keyboard as you could get in terms of travel and feel. IBM desktop keyboards (who's design was later purchased by another company) are still considered among the best.

I'm not sure if the keyboards are the same with Lenovo, as I haven't gotten the pleasure of handling a Lenovo based ThinkPad.

Again, personal preference. I myself like laptop keyboards, with their short, crisp travel.
