Weird question. Just scored a 2014 macbook air off someone. The odd thing is, the left USB port won't accept any of my devices. His worked fine though, apparently.

Could be a short somewhere on the logic board. Since it's a 2014 model, it will still be under warranty. If you have an Apple store nearby, make an appointment, demonstrate the problem, and they should take care of it for you.

Long shot but you can try an SMC reset. Hold left Option, Control, and Shift, then hold power for three seconds, then let go off all keys. The power charger LED state may change from orange to green briefly to show you did it correctly.
This does more or less the equiv of 'reseating the battery'. It fixes some obscure issues. -
Smc and pram reset is always a quick and smart thing to try even if it is a long shot. As previous guy said take it Genius Bar.
