    Hi,
my problem is basically this. My brother has a MacbookPro. He connects it to his university through VPN and then receives the mail through a POP adress. If its not connected he cant send but he can receive (or the other way around). Now that he upgraded to Leopard it keeps blocking sends and receiving saying

    ALERT
There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Check the settings for account “McGill” or try again.

The server error encountered was: The server “po-box.mcgill.ca” refused to allow a connection on port 995.

It worked before why isn't it working now.

Can someone help me with this....I should send him to the Apple Store.

Set up a GMail account, and try using Mail with GMail, and see if that works. Just making sure its not a McGill issue.

its the same setting as before. And he used it for over a year on Mac OS x tiger.
It should work, I upgraded his mac version. And just for the case I took out security from that UDP port to see if the router blocked it. And again...no.
