Then I can have a 120 GB hadrdrive running at 7200 rpm, right??
Regarding the ram, can I install 2 x 2GB ram in the MacBook??
That's a cool external harddrive casing.. I might just get that if I get a new harddrive..![]()

Yes, you could put in a 120GB 7200rom drive if you like.
Re: RAM; the most you can put in the MacBook is 3GB (1 2GB and 1 1GB). You'd need to get the MBP if you wanted 4GB of RAM (or wait for the MacBook to get a Santa Rosa update). -
Well that's nice to know. Then I'll just go with the smallest haddrive available..
But 2 Gb ram is enough right..? also regarding Leopard?? -
Yeah, should be more than enough. It depends on what you're doing though; some apps like Photoshop, etc. can always use more RAM, for example. Same with running virtual machines (i.e. a virtual machine in Parallels or VMware Fusion running Windows).

oh i cant wait!
-
Hey A.Woods.
Are you going to wait 'til september, and then sell the iPod??
Oh and I can't wait either..
Does anybody have any experience with ColorWarePC?
I'm thinking of ordering a custom painted one when I have the money -
No personal experience, but I have seen a couple of machines they have done in person, and they do look good. The process is expensive, relatively (like $449 to paint a MB or MBP), but if you do want a really unique color laptop, they do certainly seem to do a good job.

wow, thats expensive. i'd paint it myself.
and no, sander1991, if i plan on not waiting, i'll be getting it before this month end and selling the ipod right away. -
I haven't seen a Colorwarepc MacBook.. but I would still like to get one from them, even though shipping is 355 $..
Yea, that's expensive.. In the US.. but in Denmark there is no relative price difference.. a black macbook is 2100 $ (with no upgrades what so ever), and a ColorWarePc Macbook costs, with shipping, 2300.. so in my case, I'm "only" paying 200 $ for the paintjob.. -
They used to have a good section on their site explaining how their process works. To be fair, you do get your money's worth - they do an excellent job (it's not like they just break out a paintbrush and paint your computer or something) and have some fairly advanced techniques for how they do what they do.
The coating is also scratch resistant;

EDIT: Actually, if you go to one of the product pages:
http://www.colorwarepc.com/products/select_macbook.aspx
And click "Our Process" it explains in more detail what is done. -
That's why I want one from them.. I've heard so much about the white macbook getting scratched very easy.
-
Well, there are plenty of ways to deal with that that don't involve a custom paintjob from ColorWare PC. InvisibleShield shields for one; frankly just keeping it in a case most of the time does the trick.
The biggest issue with the MacBook is more "microscratches"; and frankly, those can often be gotten rid of with "Apple Polish" or any variety of similar solutions (which essentially fill in microscratches in things like glasses lenses, etc. with polymers).
I would pay for the ColorWare stuff if I wanted the color; I wouldn't pay for it just for extra scratch protection. -
That broke the camels back.. Plus if I ship it to denmark there's 355 $ shipping and handling + I have to pay tax and customs in denmark.. Tax is 25 %.. after tax, shipping and customs it will be MUCH too expensive. I don't even want to calculate how much it'll cost me before I have it at my desk.
And, those microscratches you wrote about.. I'll buy some of that "Apple Polish" and solve the problem that way.. much cheaper..
-
regarding the polish, look for automotive plastic polish, usually used to restore clarity to headlight enclosures.
something like this: http://www.meguiars.com/?clear-plastic-care/PlastX-Clear-Plastic-Cleaner-Polish
meguiar's is a big brand in north america, not sure what's available in Denmark. -
Wellll.. I've gotten my macbook like I said.
I have absolutely no regrets!
LEOPARD CAN DEFINATELY WAIT FOR THOSE WHO ARE STILL CONTEMPLATING ON WAITING : )
