I think I can get away with saying this because its in the Apple section, but we'll see.

Fellow Apple owners, if you like your laptops because you trully think it's good and not just because you hate XP or love fruits, then you need to hear me out.

Outside of the the Apple section, the forum is infected with Asus fanboys. Every single "What notebook should I buy?" thread has the word Asus in it at least 10 times. Asus fanboys shove advertising in people's faces, even when they aren't even asking about Asus laptops!

People, the Asuses aren't even that great. Most of them are pretty dark and ugly. The carbon-fiber is a lame gimmick- it's just tighter plastic that pales in comparison to real metal. They are expensive, and don't offer much more than laptops that are cheaper. Asus laptops are incredibly half-assed: they don't provide the best bang for the buck compared to cheaper laptops (ie. HP, Dell, Toshiba), yet they don't look as good or are built as well as others that are only slightly more expensive (ie. Fujitsu, Sony, Apple). They're the middle child.

Clearly in the grand scheme of things, this Asus fanaticism is just a grassroots movement because it isn't as if notebookreview.com is as popular as MySpace. But people, this is supposed to be an place of unbiased notebook information, and the ignorant Asus fans claim everything sucks except for their own!

This isn't about Apple, people, this is about reality. Let's get the world out. Everytime you see someone suggest an Asus when not asked for, you know what to do: list every single competing laptop on the market. If someone suggests the S96J, you say "Macbook Pro, FE690, dv5000, e1505, a105, Compal HEL80- The ASUS IS NOT THE ONLY THING OUT THERE!!"

    The time is now.

While I agree with you that Apple, Dell, and others make fine comparable products - I myself am very pleased with my I9300 and would love to own a Macbook if it weren't for that nasty overheating problem - ASUS is a reputable company as well and their products are well-built and often competitively priced - try finding another 14.1" with a Core Duo, x1600-level dedicated graphics, and a carbon fiber chassis for under $2000 that weighs under 6 lbs, all while remaining cool enough to comfortably use on your lap. Don't get me wrong, there are times when an ASUS is not appropriate but is suggested anyways, but the same is true of Apple's or anyone else's notebooks - you clearly don't want a Macbook for high-end gaming or a Gateway MX7527 for your cross-country bicycling expedition, but sometimes its easy to overlook parts of a request or get into a set of suggestions you use all the time when you deal with dozens a day.

So I'd hardly say there are any "terrorists" here, just a few people maybe a little too brand-biased at times.

We have fan boys for every manufacturer - just like you prefer apple notebooks, we have one for dell, asus, sager, -- every manufacturer on the forum has a fan boy.

Before this causes a flame war - thread closed.
