So like, I think i get how the OS X prevents spyware/ viruses because no one writes them for the mac?
Could mac get spyware and stuff from downloading songs off limewire like a pc?
-
No, because those Viruses(most) are written for Windows not OSX.
My friend has an ibook & does this no viruses as of date... -

what about that trojan wandering around? any news about that?

Is there a file sharing program for osx that doesnt suck? Dont say azureus
-
I was wondering the same..

When viruses start popping up for Macs, the scenario will end with Steve Jobs deciding it isn't worth the money to strike any deals to make protection for it. Hey, he did it with Valve and gaming.
-
Ehm, what is wrong with Azureus..? I've been using it for years without complains. I tried every other btc that's out there for free and i think it's the best one for advanced users, but if you think i can do better i'd like to hear how

SaferSephiroth The calamity from within
Im using Cabos, it connects to the Limewire, Limewire Pro, and Bearshare pro networks. The link to it is on one of the free apps lists.

I just wish uTorrent was available for mac.
I've tried Transmission (ok), Azureus (barely ok), and the built in client in Opera (VERY basic) and I miss uTorrent from my Win machine.
Haven't found anything excellent or worth recommending. -
imo, Azureus is too bloated, I like simple programs, like Transmission. But that one is only good for torrents.
-
it will be soon

stealthsniper96 What Was I Thinkin'?
frostwire is a great one

Azureus has gotten way too bloated. It is horrible. I use Transmission for torrents. The newest version is rather good and they keep making positive steps with each release.
And now that the Trojan is out, it would be possible to dl that off of say Limewire. However, use common sense and you should be ok. If you download a picture and it asks you for you admin password when you try to open it, you know something is wrong. We aren't at the point where things can run on their own. -
I agree about azureus being bloated, but if you switch to advanced view its exactly the same as it was before.
And I dont think on a mbp you'd notice a perfomance hit that much. -
no, but if you install microsoft office for mac, apparently its macro feature will make you vunerable to macro viruses... which i heard there's about 300+.
what trojan? anyone wants to keep me up-2-date? -

Nothing to worry about though, if you ask me. I mean, downloading files from a porn website is asking for trouble. -
okay, thanks.
