Hey Mac people, I've got a quick question for ya.

Has anyone found that their Mac shuts off the line-in port if the signal is preamplified to line level? Honestly, it's kind of ridiculous, but my Macbook will not accept audio from my Rode Videomic if I use a preamp. It's really disappointing, because the Videomic is too quiet to use otherwise.

If you have a 13" with a combined line-in/out 2.5mm, go to system preferences and set the jack to be used as "input"

It may help by manually doing this since the MBP doesn't correctly detect the device.
